Intro[edit]

The intro needs to be expanded on this article. Morphh 00:59, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No kidding. No mention of Cube for one thing. I would bet real, live money that the vast majority of sci-fi folks best know him as McKay in SG:A first and as "the architect" in Cube second; and that before SG:A got running, he was known only as the guy from Cube to 99% of people who would recognize him at all. I remember the SG1 episode in which his char. was introduced, before the Atlantis series launched, and all I could think was "oh, it's that guy from Cube. I wonder if he'll be as much of a stereotypical geek in this one..." (and of course he was; he was born to play nerds. Like, picture Hewlett running around with no shirt on and a bandana on his head, wielding a machine gun. Um, no. Geek.) Anyway, the point is, it is ridiculous for this article to not mention his Cube role in the lead.
Further, the article too often goes into a sort of "Hollywood Insider" kind of style; I think the phrase "self-confessed" or something very similar is used at least twice. There is some totally non-encyclopedic crap in there about his redlinked ex-wife that should be deleted wholesale, along with People-magazine-style gushing garbage about his current wife and their engagement that is of zero use for encyclopedic purposes; we simply do not care about his engagement, at all, period. Similar problems abound. Basically, this reads like a fanwanky bio that was copyvio'd from some fansite somewhere and I would again bet money that this is largely the actual case. I would be quite shocked if some digging did not turn up a fansite bio with about 65% overlap in content with his article here, allowing for changes over time from the original copy-paste. I'd further bet 8:1 that the source site in question will turn out to be IMDb (with a side "insurance" bet at 3:1 that the the sources would turn out to be about 50/50 IMDb and the official Stargate website.)

Citations[edit]

Some additional in-line citations would be nice, as well. Although much of this is common knowledge (and correct), the lack of citations makes it a deletion risk. I'm adding this article to my to do list. Spazure 05:30, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He confirms his wedding date on his website here: http://www.adogsbreakfastmovie.com/content/view/157/35/ (second-to-last paragraph) if someone would put that in the article? I'm new and don't want to do anything stupid. 84.44.152.196 (talk) 10:35, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Child[edit]

Anyone know why his son isn't showing in the info box? Million_Moments 19:30, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just asking, but why is his son notable enough to mention in Wikipedia to begin with? 68.35.40.113 10:46, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He should be mentioned in the infobox, we always list family in the infobox. They get a line but not much else. Million_Moments (talk) 11:36, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sears Drama Festival award[edit]

McKAY: Well, I did win a Sears Drama Festival award when I was a kid.

Was this part of the script borrowed from real life? -Ac44ck (talk) 06:11, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Christopher Judge[edit]

"Acting is not his only talent though, in 2007 he wrote and directed "A Dog's Breakfast" starring himself, his sister Kate Hewlett, his dog Mars, and previous Stargate Atlantis costars Paul McGillion, Christopher Judge, and Rachel Luttrell."

Christopher Judge is not a "co-star". IMDB lists him as being in *TWO* episodes of Stargate Atlantis out of about 99. He is a GUEST star at best, definitely not a co-star. 78.86.230.62 (talk) 12:15, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How about if it was changed to "Stargate costars"? That would be series non specific. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.15.216.52 (talk) 05:15, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
