Notability?[edit]

What is the assertion of notability on this person? User:Pedant (talk) 16:37, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He is one of 20 CERC's (Canada Excellence Research Chairs) - a new high-profile program to recruit and retain top researchers, and to build programs and capabilities around them, in this case the quantum computing initiative at the University of Waterloo, which is a leader in this field.

It would make sense for the primary article to be on the Canada Excellence Research Chairs, and then to have a list of the 20 CERC's, branching off from there to individual articles, where warranted.

There are similarities to the Canada Research Chairs (CRC's), but in that case, there are close to 2,000 CRC's, so the CERC's are 100 times more selective, in terms of numbers.
