Have removed the line which stated he was one of only three Tory MPs to lose their seats in 1997 to win a seat in 2005, this is untrue there are many more. Malcolm Rifkind and he did indeed lose seats in 1997 and had to wait until 2005 to gain election, Jacqui Lait on the other hand, was returned for Beckenham at the 1997 By-election. MPs such as Alistair Burt; Derek Conway and Andrew Mitchell (to name but three) also lost seats in 1997 and were re-elected in 2005 - So was unsure as to what the original text was trying to say - hence removal Rob Streatham 22:42, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
