Much of the claims in this article appear bogus. The Rocking the Corps show makes no mention of Catullo anywhere, much less as director. [1] Catullo is not mentioned as a producer or in any of the details. IMDB can be edited by anyone, but as the matter is dubious and I can find no solid mention for this, I'm taking it out. The second benefit matter is again, not the brainchild of Catullo, but instead the LA times reported, "Will and the Peas are holding a launch party for his new will.i.am Music Group, with all the proceeds going to UNICEF to support tsunami relief." [2] It does not make mention of Catullo again. I believe reliable sources are required at this point for every single claim. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 16:32, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You for whatever reason are undertaking a personal assult on this person. You have no reason sir to simply remove the whole story based on the fact that you feel he is only notable as the result of litigation that he was involved in. The story makes no mention of ANY litigation whatsoever, and clearly that fact that you make this comment in an attempt to justify your summary removal of anything to do with this person show sr that you are biased and I am going to ask that you remove yourself from editing this story and you seem to be doing so simply out of spite. --WPPilot 05:34, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Any issues that need to be resolved should be reviewed here first, this is what the talk page is used for Mr Chris Gualtieri. What ever spite that you have personally upon Mr. Catullo should not vented here. I will, in the AM update some of the ref links in this story, I WROTE IT and I would rather you acted like a adult and discuss your concerns. Thank you.--WPPilot 05:49, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

WPP, please assume good faith on the part of your fellow editors. You do not own this article and have no special privileges here. --Orange Mike | Talk 15:37, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WPPilot, I would echo what Orangemike has said above, and can you also please sign your posts so your username links to your user page for easier navigation in the future? Thank you, --Malerooster (talk) 01:51, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The user had undertaken a series of disruptive edits that were not in the intrest of furthering the Wikipedia objective and seemed to be rather uninformed, and as you can see below I have provided a slew of ref's that should clear up any confusion. --WPPilot 02:16, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
The personal attacks have to stop. I've checked every one of the refs and made a comment on each. I'm not sure where you got some of them as they are 404 and 403ing already, but many are useless and all the better ones reflect a different version of 'director and producer' then what most people think of. See my posts below. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:10, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ref's[edit]

At user ChrisGualtieri and anyone wishing to attempt to remove this story or its contents. I will in a few hours rewrite the story to address the mineo concerns that user ChrisGualtieri has brought to my attention. It is not productive to undertake edit wars and ChrisGualtieri asserts that the story is a self bio, something that it simply is not. User ChrisGualtieri also suggests that this Talk page be used to create civil discussions regarding the page yet ChrisGualtieri simply reverts edits and based upon his comments regarding litigation he is CLEARLY BIASED and should not be editing this page in any manner whatsoever. --WPPilot 06:40, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

This is old 'rage' at this point. Disregard this. As pointed out in triplicate, I am not biased, I didn't look up court documents and pay to do so. Just ignore this section. I'd remove it if it wouldn't cause more problems. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:13, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

Could any external links just be reviewed here before being added back into this BLP? Hopefully this isn't asking too much, but I guess we'll see. Thank you, --Malerooster (talk) 01:48, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20090923006296/en/Rockpit.com-Partners-USO-Bring-Creed-Live-U.S.

Effectively self-published. Also note: "The Creed live webcast, produced by DC3 Music Group, LLC and directed by awarding-winner Daniel E. Catullo III (Rush in Rio, Nickelback Live From Sturgis, Godsmack: Changes), will include simultaneous filming of backstage footage, extended aerial “Fly Cam” stadium views, the full-length concert and pre- and post-concert band interviews." Sounds like the webcast is produced by DC3 and the webcast (probably not the company, but it is ambiguous here) is being directed by Catullo. The event itself is NOT being directed by Catullo. The webcast is. Huge difference. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:17, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PROOF That he produced and directed Rock N The Corps in 2005

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-rockin-the-corps-daniel-e-catullo-iii/10313995

Again, the one above states what his role is. Its on the DVD credits. He produced and directed the version that came out, he didn't direct the show itself. The previous article I noted would have said that. He didn't direct the event itself. Lawrence Jordan is the real director, Catullo did the DVD/Webcast. Oh. Ahem. Here is the note we want "...Daniel E. Catullo III, event partner DC3 Music Group's co-founder...." Notice how it does not say director? "DC3’s co-founder, Daniel E. Catullo III, has been involved in the Sturgis Rally since 2006, as exclusive producers of TV, pay-per-view and DVD specials for RTR in 2006 and 2007, and an executive producer of the Rock ‘N Rally Festival (2007)." This is an acceptable source and properly reflects his role. Producer of TV, pay-per-view and DVD specials. Not director or producer of the event itself. This is not the BEST source we can get, but for context, this is definitely about as good as we can get. No to external link, yes to reference. RSN probably not needed, but would be good to do for backing. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ahem, "According to the Rapid City Journal, festival official Dan Catullo said that a switchover from festival sound equipment to GUNS' own gear took longer than anticipated and also caused complications with the festival's video crew, who were filming the event." Notice no producer nor director credits here. He is an 'official' and that probably alludes to his work as a producer of the video matters, not the event itself. Not a great source for anything... but maybe in a pinch. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:33, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

LINK THE FULL THROTTLE SALOON REALTY SHOW HE PRODUCED - http://www.trutv.com/video/full-throttle-saloon/tough-act-follow.html

This was mentioned above, and that doesn't say he made the reality show, he is the founder and promoter of the event as noted in the other source you pointed out. So... yeah, your claim about producing the reality show is a little bit light as it states, "Executive producers are Arnold Rifkin, Arthur Smith, Frank Sinton, Jesse James Dupree and Kent Weed." I just had to reply to one more item before I take a break for the holidays. Your comments about Plane To Haiti and The Wheelchair Foundation are beyond insulting. That trip deserves to be recognized, as many people worked very hard and donated a lot of time and money. That trip was not organized for publicity or to increase my public perception. I have been involved with The Wheelchair Foundation for over a decade. They are a HUGE charity with many celebrities, politicians, world leaders and such on their Board. To insulate that this trip was set up for good press or that any reference to this trip was made to make me look good is insane. To learn more about them you can see for yourself at http://www.wheelchairfoundation.org/about/international_board. They do not allow me or anybody else to "self publish". If you want- call them and ask them about me. Ask for Jane or Jeff Behring and they'll tell you all about me and what we did in Haiti.

--Daniel Catullo (talk) 18:59, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:SELFPUB. I didn't say we can't use it or insult the charity, but if you look at the ref, it is a brief paragraph and the rest is you describing the event itself. Mr. Catullo, Wikipedia has its own jargon, something which no one expects you to know or even care about. But please, examine WP:SELFPUB and note that it is not prohibited, it just defines what should be and what shouldn't be used from the source. I actually said the reference was useful, I didn't reject it. I am weary of simple statements of fact being turned into something they are not. I haven't edited the article page since we have begun discussing this and I don't know if I want to even help fix this anymore. I've got much better things to do then be demonized because of someone's misunderstanding. It may be difficult to understand my actions, but they have purpose and the goal of making the article better. That article has gotten 290 hits in the last 90 days and many come from after the ANI posting.[3] While this page 699. [4] Most of them coming from the ANI posting again. The others seem to be bots and maybe a few people finding the article. The Plane to Haiti article did not meet standards for its own article, it was better off here anyways. Disjointed pages are hard to follow and read. So try to calm down and think about my lines again, there is a rational and valid tag, but I am not out to demean them. From a camera on the drums, both in front and behind Stix, to the camera smartly placed on Lexxi’s mirror (as we get to see Foxx frequently using his lip gloss and checking his beautiful locks) — masterful work from Catullo." IMDB[edit]

IMDB according to its own Wiki page provides a series of templates for use as refs in Wikipedia and while ANYONE can contribute, IMDB has a staff that confirms the data well before it is posted. I was once in the movie Cobra, and have tried to have my name listed but as I did not obtain a credit (I was a extra to the "bad house") IMDB said NO DEAL to me, as far as being listed in the movie credits. Steven Spielberg has IMDB linked, on his Wiki page, so the argument offered above, that it is unreliable is simply not true in the real world.--WPPilot 02:12, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Too bad, try and revert the consensus here, I can edit that page to say whatever I want with just a few buttons to push. We can take this to RSN if you disagree, but it will not be a welcome road to tread again. With all the false information on this page, it will be definitely not in your favor. He credits himself as executive producer when his credit is not that. And quite frankly, the article is full of such cases. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:08, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
At this point I think crediting him as 'the producer and director DVD/CD release' is probably an adequate statement for a majority of these. One is the event itself, the other is the media release of the event which has to be processed by skilled video editors. Catullo is the latter, not the former it seems. People equate 'director' to be like movie director, Catullo does the video directing, not the people directing. He does not mastermind the concert itself, he directs the 'video of the concert' and does the video production for it to have a proper media release. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:08, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As Amazon owns IMDB, and its data base shows Catullo listed in the credits of these DVD's: http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=Daniel%20E.%20Catullo&ref=dp_dvd_bl_dir&search-alias=dvd --WPPilot 19:34, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
http://www.amazon.com/Godsmack-Changes/product-reviews/B0002NRRBA/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 That link shows the Godsmack DVD, and its reviews from 49 regular people. Chris do you think that this is some kind of hoax? A fraud created by Amazon to facilitate Catullo's creation of fluff for the Wiki page? Sure seems like the people that reviewed the DVD had nothing but good things to say about it--WPPilot 19:38, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, but there is a difference between director of photography and director of an event and a director of a company. I want proper context. All sources point to video production and not event director. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 20:22, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DAN'S RESPONSE TO ALL THE ABOVE[edit]

I just noticed this "Talk" Page and saw all of these posts. OK- this is getting silly now. I guess that my role as a producer, director, promoter (sometimes) and Executive is being challenged, which is quite ridiculous. I have been in the business for over 20 years and my body of work speaks for itself. To try to say that my body of work, is "not" my body of work is asinine. Go rent or buy any of the mentioned shows and you will clearly see my name as Director, Producer, EP or Promoter. I am properly credited in each show I worked on. I wear many hats on most of my productions, as not only do I Direct and Produce the videos, we sometimes produce the entire event too. When my company produces the event (as we have done many, many times), I am credited with all the jobs I perform. To try to attack my credits only shows me that one has a vendetta against me and is not editing my page in the interest of Wikipedia. There is a trail of thousands of articles, posts, credits, websites, etc that verify my career and who I am. Furthermore, such respected and major sites as IMDB and Amazon further verify my roles in such productions. I take offense to people attacking the validity of my credits, as I worked my entire life to achieve the level of success and respect that I have within the Artist community. I have many long-term clients and friends such as Godsmack, Alter Bridge, Creed, Slash etc who all work with me on a daily basis. Please refrain from these silly postings, as I am sure we all have better things to do

Respectfully Dan --Daniel Catullo (talk) 18:43, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The time stamps on some of these are older then today, its important to read the time stamps and understand the context of that time. I have plenty of other things to do, but my actions above were recommended if not required under WP:BLP as material which is contentious or false should be removed regardless of its nature, doubly so if negative. The problems of the sources can be addressed, but in all fairness quite a few places did not you listed on the websites credits and those that gave major cast credits did not have your name match those titles. While the matter of the title is important, the fact the are not the same thing was a big issue and its claims were dubious to false, depending on your reading of the ambiguous nature of the terms. Once we fix the matters Wikipedia will be better then IMDB and should be the first place for a detailed and proper check on the article. Also, reliable sources and stuff frequently mess up, as I noted in the links above. Reminds me of the Doomwatch dates as Wikipedia has the correct ones when most websites have the wrong ones. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 19:52, 21 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever the case, ALL material added to the project has to be properly sourced from reliable sources, thats all. Hopefully going forward, this BLP can be written in that fasion. --Malerooster (talk) 05:34, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
TCM is fine for the situation. IMDB has always been less reliable even with their new standards. I had to fix the Featured List Golden Eagle Award for Best Foreign Language Film today and it managed to pass on the Russian equivalent. So its nothing to fret over, just making sure we have the right credits is all. If in dispute we mark with a footnote or note and explain. Same as always. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 07:14, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am close to stepping out. How can we get others involved to improve this article and avoid the COI and poor sourcing? --Malerooster (talk) 06:01, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

By requiring it. You know the rules on BLP. Positive or negative, it must be sourced. Though I know what you mean. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 06:34, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You two seem to be on a mission. I dont understand your objective. I have been a POOL photographer for 20 years for Getty Images as well as Wire Image. A few years ago I was asked to stand on a Runway and take photos for an event designed to help people in Haiti. I did so with the other pool reporters from Fox, NBC CBS, ABC, and so on and I took Dans photo. The photo on the Wiki page was not one of the pool photos that the agency picked up and I was impressed with the mission, so I created the Flight to Haiti page and donated the photo to Wikipedia. With that I saw Dans page and tried to clean it up some, as back then it was a mess.

I prefer to be one of the contributors to this project, as most of my work, my photos, can speak for themselves. I always found that it is best to improve something rather then just take, the world is already staffed with a lot of people that only know how to take and I would rather not be one of them. I have been here since 2009. The pages that I edit I have really tried to take the time to source and follow all Wiki guidlines. This is the ONLY page that I have had anything to do with that has so much contention, it is really odd to me.

Does my status as a professional photographer, that once saw Dan on a runway, create a COI? Should I NOT have accepted his offer, yesterday to take pictures of him with his awards? Looking at your edit logs the two of you seem to work together on a few projects, why are you tag teaming the page to get it removed, it just seems odd to me.

BLP, clearly states that the living person has every right to comment on his/her talk page, yet here you are suggesting that he be blocked so that the two of you can create the Dan Catullo page that you have fixed in your minds eye, one with nothing on it that you control. WOW Really!--WPPilot 13:39, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Actually, I never knew who Malerooster was and have never been on the same page as him in a content dispute. We share something in common what is it? Anyways, WP:BLP actually says that the subject can request the removal of private information or something they do not want public. Most recently the full date of birth, this can be validated and has, so that only the year of birth be listed. It does not allow the subject to make the article as they wish, that's for social networking and Linkedin to do. Moving on the your questions now. Nice pictures, they do improve the article. And yes, I do believe the '4' Guinness World Records bit can be replaced with the correct one. Cool guitars. Also, WPPilot, you do not have a COI. I'ma give you a barnstar for getting a better picture of Catullo. Good work. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:15, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Chris, it was worth the trip..--WPPilot 13:30, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Record verification[edit]

I just realized this after looking at the picture and the GWR page. The record Catullo has states 227. The GWR page states 239. That's odd. Which one should we use for the article? ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:29, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to ask him hit up his Talk page, or I guess you could e mail he too. I do think the article is looking better too.--WPPilot 13:33, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

IP Vandal[edit]

User talk:128.97.182.59 (University of California) & User talk:76.194.213.39 (Buena Park) have vandalized the page and clearly has some kind of personal attachment making a personal attack on this person. I have posted a warning on the IP talk pages, but one of the IP numbers is registered to the University of California so I have requested that this be placed into a Semi protection mode to assure that the editors are registered users. WPPilot 08:41, 6 February 2014 (UTC) WPPilot[reply]

Despite your statement above, you have made no request at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection for this page to be protected.
I wonder if you think that putting the Edit semi-protected template on a page is a way of requesting that an article becomes semi-protected?
It is not, it is only a way of requesting a change be made to an already protected page, which this one is not. Arjayay (talk) 19:22, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I noticed that after I had done it, just have not had time to undo the request. Thanks WPPilot 23:36, 6 February 2014 (UTC) Talk

Protection Request[edit]

I have placed a request to fully protect this wiki on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. A film this man was executive producer on, is up for a Oscar.

This type of nonstop un ref'ed attack could do genuine and irreversible harm to him for life and could liable the Wikipedia foundation.

This issue was addressed here in talk above, years ago, and these I.P. attacks are coming from a dynamic IP from a user that clearly is accustomed to editing wiki. The person places tags in the edits.WPPilot 06:22, 7 February 2014 (UTC) Talk

COI editing[edit]

Collapsing this to help foster peace at this article. -- Atama 22:10, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

WPPilot (talk · contribs) added all the photos, which he calls his own work (meaning he has met the subject on at least one / probably several occasions), and he has also contributed a fair bit to the text. This edit summary from an SPA also implies a direct personal relationship with the subject, and one of this SPA's only two non-Catullo-related edits implies a real-world connection with WPPILOT.[7] The existence of at least two other SPAs is also interesting. There also seem to be several IP users with a personal axe to grind against the subject.

Please note that on the substance I actually agree with WPPilot and Truth991. The "legal problems" should not be re-added to this article, as the information was terribly sourced and this is still a BLP article.

On a largely unrelated note, even if Catullo really did write his own bio on IMDb, we have no way of verifying that, and self-published primary sources generally aren't acceptable anyway. So I'm removing the IMDb references.

Hijiri 88 ( やや) 16:06, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know any of these people other then to accept a invite from Catullo to his office and take his photo about a year ago I think. I did get to meet him yes. I have a watch set on his page and I noticed that Truth911 account trying to keep Catullo's page free from the IP vindictive edits and it was clear that user Truth991 knew little of Wiki procedure, so I requested a restriction on his page, and I cleaned it up a bit. WPPilot Talk 16:30, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Was this photo taken at his office? You uploaded it three years ago, and your description of it refers to the subject as "Dan". I'm not saying you're in the wrong or that your edits are bad. It's just that this article is based almost entirely on unwieldy USERG sources and several of its editors have met him. I've met a number of people who have Wikipedia articles, and even edited their articles. I started this article on someone I consider a friend. But if 90% of that article was written by me, and the only source I had cited was on a Wikipedia-like website and claimed to have been written by the subject but in a manner that is unverifiable, I'd like to think that I would have seen the justification in the article getting tagged. Hijiri 88 (やや) 16:50, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and when I speculated a connection between you and Truth991, it was because he/she appeared suddenly on an ANI thread to defend you. I apologize if my interpretation was wrong. Hijiri 88 (やや) 16:52, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was at one time a photographer for the news service Wire Image & Getty. I after I started editing that page noticed it was in the unused photos from that shoot. I at that time did not even know who he was, but I knew Lionel Pasamonte, the person in the photo with him. that was my first edit on Mr. Catullo's page. Hollywood is a really small place, I was in fact born in Hollywood, many of us in the industry cross paths on a regular basis and never know it. That photo was at Long Beach Airport, on assignment. Like you said I guess I know him now, having run into him once at a airport runway (Long Beach btw) and been to his office. Also your feeling that IMDB is not a reliable source, are you asserting that Catullo could have inserted his name in the IMDB data base, or that the Square did not gain a Oscar nomination? To many people an Oscar nomination is a important factor in life even if it did not win and it should be included in page on the guy IMHO. WPPilot talk 18:55, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also about your tag regarding a connection that you perceive I have to this person. It was addressed above by another editor, above. A simple review of my edit history shows my rather diverse interests and close connection to Hollywood as well as the access that being a Industry Photographer has :) its just a job... Frankly speaking I have more of a COI with John Wayne Airport as I fly out of it a few times a week right now, should I not edit it or upload my photos to it? WPPilot talk 19:13, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't explain why you referred to him as "Dan". Also, read my opening comment again. The tag is not about "a connection I perceive you to have to this person". You are just one of numerous accounts and IPs who have edited this page. Truth991's first edit summary is basically a blank admission to being either this person or a close relative, and given that Catullo seems to have written his own IMDb bio it seems highly unlikely that he didn't touched his own Wikipedia article while he was at it. And again, I need to stress that I am not in favour of re-adding the nonsense that Truth991 removed.

Sir, I am a professional photographer. When I do a shot, I have a small notebook and notate whom it is I photograph so as to upload to my agency. I had, on the photo that you are fixated upon noted that the photo was of Dan Catullo. I NEVER would put Mr. Catullo in my note pad, and was NOT introduced to him as Daniel. You claim that "Catullo seems to have written his own IMDb bio" what makes you think that? The guy deals with what are called "Hollywood Media Agencies" when he does release his projects. The links you gave were from 2010 & 2011 FYI it is 2014 right now. When I did the photo of him, at his office it was clear to me that he knew NOTHING about writing code or editing a Wikipedia page, and he had a lot of people working for him. Most of your COI's were from 4 years ago and frankly speaking you are making a LOT of assumptions over a long period of time that is unfair to the subject. Let me make a suggestion, why don't you go to HIS user talk page, and ask him yourself? User:Daniel Catullo talk- rather then just guess.... He, when I meet him was a really nice and easy to talk to guy. talk WPPilot 02:32, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BTW The Photo was an assignment from the "Wheel Chair Foundation", (from a Hollywood Media Agency) my notes also say these guys delivered hundreds of wheelchairs to a earthquake ravaged county in the plane behind them for the Wheel Chair Foundation. The assignment dispatcher optioned 4 photos, from the shoot and that was NOT one of them. ;) 良い一日を talk WPPilot 02:46, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"Sir", your condescending tone is not conducive to constructive discussion. Call me, by my username. I also don't appreciate the sarcastic-sounding sign-off "Good day to you" (You don't seem to be a native Japanese-speaker, so I'll take this as not having been your intent). But you have made this personal, when that was not my intent. Please stop taking everything so personally: I did notice you were called out the other day for making legal threats over the placement of a photo in an article. If you keep taking everything so personally it's going to be difficult for you to contribute here. As to your question what makes you think that? "IMDb Mini Biography By: Daniel Catullo. Hijiri 88 (やや) 03:16, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As you said you have made this person and as such it should go to YOUR talk page, but you removed it "Mr Hijiri88", is that how you would like to be referenced???? "difficult for you to contribute here" are you threating me???? While I am not a native speaker of Japanese I have contributed many photos of the Imperial Palace to Wikipedia, my use of Sir was out of respect and you took it as a insult. This conversation does not belong on a Talk page about Dan Catullo and you removed my comment on your talk page. The only thing your concerned with now is what you feel is the tone of the way I presented words, You have lost touch with the subject and this DOES NOT BELONG on Mr Catullo's talk page. You are grasping at straws regarding some users that contributed years ago, and only seem concerned with what you perceive is personal, when I was just trying to be considerate. I am not going to respond to this thread any fur÷ther. So far you have attacked three words I used, for the record: 1) Dan, "why did you call him Dan". 2) Sir, "assuming that I was being condescending" 3) Good day to you, in Japanese (良い一日を) and these things made this personal? [Signing off, w/photos of 長和殿]. Hi... WPPilot talk --WPPilot 04:09, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Hijiri88: bit of a note: Dc3director = Daniel Catullo. The connection was already revealed prior and the fact that Daniel Catullo is the Dc3 Director is self-noted. With that being said, I tried to fix the issues, but I ran into this mess. Personally, I'm not even a native Japanese speaker but "良い一日を" is probably more sarcastic/rude in Japanese than it is in English. WPPilot means well, but its not the photos that are the problem - never was. You don't see me tooting my own horn for getting a spot in Guinness, but I think some of the claims here are quite stretched to the limits on clever wording or technicalities. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:14, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

hahaha, so Hijiri88 has discovered something that was already known and he did so as a direct result of my photos. That is really funny!WPPilot 05:52, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Disputes at this article[edit]

I was brought here by the discussion at WP:ANI. I was hoping that some outside intervention might help. I have a lot of experience dealing with COI issues, and I've done mediation before (I was briefly in MEDCOM and used to volunteer at MEDCAB when it was active). So I thought I'd try some of the approaches I've used in the past.

I find that often the best way to start resolving any disputes is to first identify what the disputes are. This is not so much about conduct issues but more about content disputes (basically anything in article space, including templates and links). Based on what I'm reading recently on this discussion page, what was on ANI, and what I see in the recent editing history on this page, I think I see the following issues. Please feel free to add any other issues that I've missed, correct me about any misinterpretations I've had with any of these items, or let me know if what I've identified are not issues (either resolved or nonexistent).

  • The COI tag on the article is being disputed (that there may be cleanup necessary in the article due to a COI editor's involvement).
  • The inclusion of a "legal cases" section in the article.
  • The reliability of IMDb sources.
  • Whether the Oscar nomination of a film that the subject produced merits inclusion in the lead.

I know there are personal disputes between editors here, but the point of my involvement is to move past that and address the article issues, as I've found that doing so usually either resolves personal disputes, or makes them moot once article issues are resolved. I'd also suggest not to focus on what each person has done "wrong" but again, to focus on the actual concerns about the article itself. -- Atama 18:22, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that one of the major disputants at this article has withdrawn from editing this article, and from discussion of this article (from messages sent to me) so this section is probably moot unless someone truly wishes to discuss these matters. -- Atama 17:31, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
