Seal/Emblem[edit]

Anybody have the university seal and would care to upload it? Thanks. Asabbagh 07:50, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's one of the prettiest logos I have ever seen. Are those hieroglyphics at the top? Chris 05:47, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. see Arabic calligraphy. It's just harder to read. Asabbagh 06:24, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Edits[edit]

I have tidied up some of the language and punctuation errors in the History section. (I also took out the phrase "Needless to say" from the last sentence - if its needless to say, then one shouldn't say it :-). There are a couple of errors in sentences, though, that make the sentences difficult to understand, so I don't want to make a change unless I'm sure that I've left the original meaning.

Here are the sentences, and the proposed changes. I'll leave the text as it is for 30 days, and then, based on comments and suggestions, I'll make the changes (If there are no comments, I'll make the proposed changes anyway, but the original will remain here so that anyone can change it back if they wish). (Also please note, that I don't claim to agree or disagree with any of the statements, as some appear quite subjective - my aim is only to clarify meaning).

Sentence: Damascus University is the initial institution for Higher Education in Syria. Proposed change: Damascus University is the premier institution for Higher Education in Syria.

Sentence: Damascus University developing was given the first priority. Proposed change: The further development of Damascus University was given the highest priority

Sentence: Damascus University is the pioneers Arabic language in publication and instruction based on the importance of Mastering science and linking between past, present and the hoped for future of Syria.[2] Proposed change: Damascus University is a pioneer of publication and instruction in Arabic, emphasizing the importance of mastering the sciences, and also linking between the past, the present, and the envisioned future of Syria.[2]

OK, I have made the changes as suggested above, with some variations to the first sentence, based on the web site referenced. Kmasters0 (talk) 09:11, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

There is clear vandalism under the former name, affiliation, and president sections of the opening page. 172.88.72.252 (talk) 15:25, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
