Passages on the economy[edit]

I've reverted the following passage, because it's unsourced and has engendered a long-term unsourced response. If someone can supply reliable cites, please re-add content. Until then, it appears to be a sore point; rather than edit war, please only add content that is reliably sourced, and discuss the issues here first. Thanks. 99.149.84.135 (talk) 15:30, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Justice[edit]

In the early 1970s, a young Realtor, Mike Justice. moved to Dalhart and realized the abundance of water for irrigation, local market and climate for corn, and low taxes. He launched an advertising campaign to sell an idea to Corn Belt farmers. They could trade 1-acre (4,000 m2) for three or 4 acres (16,000 m2) in Dalhart, and he showed them how to trade and defer the capital gain taxes. Some 150 farm families hence sold their farms and relocated their families to Dalhart. Each brought from $500,000 to $5 million dollars to the economy. The new residents came from as far away as Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Canada, and the Netherlands.

2010 Census Data[edit]

I've updated the entire demographics section to reflect the 2010 Census rather than the 2000, which had been used until now. The data diverges a little from the wikipedia City format, mostly because the citations for the data worked best when grouping them the way that I did. If someone objects, let me know. I also added educational attainment demographics and median home value, as well as foreign born and non-English speaking stats.

Rita Blanca Lake State Park doesn't exist[edit]

I can find no records of a state park with this name. Can we remove the reference? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.239.232.139 (talk) 03:28, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
