Intro video source failed verification[edit]

The line, "One of the advertisements was so well received that it was commissioned by D&D Beyond into an official intro video featuring the same song as in the advertisement sung by Sam Riegel," uses https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4BuL886bJA as its source, but it is only the commissioned video. The source does not say anything about how well the original advertisement was received (and by whom: viewers, customers, or D&D Beyond employees), or that D&D Beyond commissioned it. While the source is relevant, it does not verify the claim. This sentence could be rewritten as, "Sam Riegel sang in an official D&D Beyond intro video," but then we have the question of notability. Your suggestion sounds reasonable to me. 8.37.179.254 (talk) 23:32, 9 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Realistically, the entirety of the "Sponsorship" section probably constitutes original research. The sources that are given certainly aren't enough to support any of the claims. For instance, pointing to a playlist of over fifty videos is wholly inadequate for the claim that all of them contain an advertisement, since it would require watching (a portion of) each and every video to check. And that's without even considering that the playlist doesn't contain all episodes of the campaign at this point. We'd really want to be pointing to a source -- preferably a secondary source rather than Critical Role or D&D Beyond -- that has people talking about the sponsorship, rather than just pointing at the sponsorship itself. I had a quick look for that and couldn't find anything appropriate, which leads me to believe that nothing in this section is sufficiently notable to be worth keeping. Would anyone object to the section just being removed entirely? Lowercaserho (talk) 00:16, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You make some good points. 2601:241:4280:161:4155:E573:E68E:BAE6 (talk) 11:19, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Leaving this quote/source here in case it is useful in the future - this is from 411Mania's interview of Travis Willingham and Sam Riegel: "Then last year, when we partnered with our sponsor D&D Beyond to make a short animated promotion, we saw how awesome a Critical Role animated series could be — and knew we HAD to do it".[1] Sariel Xilo (talk) 02:12, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Top staff leave DNDBeyond.[edit]

seems many top level people just left DNDB, is there any news related to this and other sources verifying so that it might be included if important in this page? shadzar-talk 03:53, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
