Comments[edit]

"It was said in some of the ancient poems that the whispers of the Sibyl would be heard for a thousand years, and some have said that they will resound and echo for all eternity." Even if this editor had known that she was referring obliquely to a famous fragment of Heraclitus, this kind of empty effusion, however heartfelt, just isn't for an encyclopedia. --Wetman 07:43, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

I'm writing these lines to warn you against a quote in the article in question ("The cave at Cumea", in the Contents section) I think is not correct:

"and a nearby passage now known as the Crypta Romana (part of Agrippa and Octavian's defenses in the war against Pompey) was previously identified as the Grotto of the Sibyl."

Actually, there wasn't any war between Octavian and Pompey, but between Julius Caesar and Pompey; Agrippa and Octavian fight against Brutus and Cassius and, after them, Mark Antony.

best regards
