Fixtures[edit]

The Pacific Games Council have advised me that an updated technical manual for cricket at the games, with all the fixtures, will be available this week. We can add in the NCL fixtures then. Bs1jac (talk) 22:48, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PGC have confirmed the teams via email and also said that an updated technical statement will be released this week with all the fixtures. Bs1jac (talk) 07:04, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: It seems like the week has passed away. Human (talk) 04:38, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@A Simple Human: Yes I know, they haven't been good at updating. The cricket page on their site shows the correct flags for competing nations, but no sign of the new schedule yet. Bs1jac (talk) 06:13, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
They published the new schedule today (see reference) and I have entered the New Caledonia fixtures and the medal matches, as well as the ground number for each match (there are 4 grounds at the same venue).Bs1jac (talk) 19:44, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bs1jac: The only way I am getting updates is the Vanuatu FB page. It's a shame that PNG, despite playing T20I for a long time isn't quick enough to update. Other team's social media accounts aren't active. New Caledonia doesn't have any social media accounts. Human (talk) 05:01, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I could see last night here that there was nothing coming through. To be honest for series like this it is probably best just to wait for scorecards and do a single edit rather than trying to add scraps of information. Bs1jac (talk) 05:55, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: The website of the Game showas PNG won the first match. I couldn't find any other information. Human (talk) 10:15, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Its fine to just put the winner if that's all that is available for now. No point trying to 'guess' debuts etc. Maybe we should add that page in the external links section? Bs1jac (talk) 10:18, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: Agreed. Human (talk) 10:54, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
At least this has some recent coverage from press in that area of the world, even saying X team beat Y team. Better than the Kuwait/Qatar series! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:05, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's funny how CI included the bronze medal match, even though the match has no official status. Usually they don't include such matches unless they are WCL or directly related to ICC. Human (talk) 06:32, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Location[edit]

CI says games at Oval 1 and Oval 2 but here it says Oval 3 and Oval 4. Can someone please confirm? Ankurc.17 (talk) 05:37, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ankurc.17: The locations are given according to the schedule released by the Pacific Games Council. At this moment CI isn't a relevant source as they are not providing updates. Human (talk) 12:05, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Ankurc.17: I have just updated the first Van-Sam match to oval 1 as per the complete scorecard on cricinfo. When I created the page I used the official technical manual (see refs), but with games getting rained off and rearranged this is subject to change. Bs1jac (talk) 16:35, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PS Orginally grounds 1 and 2 were for the women's event. This rescheduled match currently shows as oval 1 though at the moment... will all become clear(er) once other scorecards appear. Bs1jac (talk) 22:01, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bs1jac: The reason I asked is so that accordingly changes be made in List of Twenty20 International cricket grounds page as well. Currently I have put Oval 3 and 4 there. Ankurc.17 (talk) 06:01, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ankurc.17: Hi, I made a few changes there yesterday. Unfortunately it is likely you will need to wait to update this list, or expect to have to come back and make changes when actual grounds are confirmed in CI. Bs1jac (talk) 06:05, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Debuts[edit]

@A Simple Human: Note that one card is now in CI (SAM-VAN). The debuts are wrong so please do not add them... many of these players will have played in the earlier matches that do not yet have scorecards in CI. Bs1jac (talk) 16:39, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bs1jac: Please see Template:Single-innings cricket match for scoring help. Human (talk) 17:16, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, I hadn't seen that point in many years of editing(!). I would really think it should be the one who bowled the most overs as the figures are 'better', but there you go. Bs1jac (talk) 17:21, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
PS, In return, sure enough a few of your partial updates from social media (both here and the Qat-Kuw) have proved to be slightly inaccurate, such as the number of overs bowled in the chase of this match. I would advise it's not really worth adding anything other than the match result (and maybe the toss) unless (or until) a reasonable scorecard, or specific detailed report, is available. Bs1jac (talk) 17:37, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Venue[edit]

@Lugnuts: Hi. The one scorecard currently in CI shows the venue as Faleata Oval (in this case, oval 1). I had seen both names before when creating the page, but went with the name in the technical manual for the Games. Should now go with CI though, which I have done. Would you mind checking the linking as I have not changed that part (you set up a redirect and I didn't want to mess with it!) Bs1jac (talk) 21:58, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Looks all OK to me. I've created a few more redirects for now. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 06:56, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete Scorecard[edit]

@Bs1jac: Could you please check with your contact at CI on incomplete scorecards for some of the games at the Men's competition. There partnerships are still not there. Thanks Ankurc.17 (talk) 13:09, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I will check, but the problem is that sometimes the scorers simply don't provide this information such as the ball-by-ball details. Bs1jac (talk) 21:45, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
