Motives of the kidnappers[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians! The otherwise excellent section on the motives of the kidnappers is capped up with a statement about what "current research" believes. If there is indeed a firm consensus among current scholars, then more sources are needed. Otherwise, it should be specified which current researchers that hold this belief.
