Ancien regime[edit]

The description "ancien regime Holy Roman Empire" used in the lede does not seem to make sense. Dr. Grampinator (talk) 16:54, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is wordy construction, but I think it makes sense? "Ancien regime" is being used adjectively, as in "ancien regime France". Make sense?--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 11:11, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've never seen ancien regime used with the HRE, but at a minimum the Wikilink doesn't belong there. Dr. Grampinator (talk) 16:44, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From clicking around a bit I presume what you are saying is that it is normally used to refer only to pre-revolutionary France? I can see that it gets used in different ways, and often restricted to France, so indeed maybe it's worth changing. Shame though because it is handy to have a word for the very long lasting complex of such entities which lasted from the middle ages until the revolution.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 20:06, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I will overhaul the origins section[edit]

I think I need to clean up and shorten the origins section. Over time I have let it grow without much discipline. For anyone who wants to examine what is removed and potentially recover anything from this version, this is how it currently looks: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=County_of_Loon&oldid=1192608825 Andrew Lancaster (talk) 10:23, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
