400kV switchgear[edit]

In the '400kV Switching Station' section what is the correct operating pressure of the air blast operated switches? The conversion is incorrect: 0.167 bar = 2.42 lbf/in2, and 350 lbf/in2 = 24.13 bar. Alnitak3 (talk) 10:43, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Alnitak3 Good catch. As 2psi seems unreasonably low to operate a mechanical switch (could 2psi flow be called an "air-blast"?), I dropped it, retained 350psi and added the convert template. Anyway, the air-blast switches were evidently later replaced. Blainster (talk) 19:12, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Date of demolition[edit]

As of December 2022, there are conflicting statements in different sections regarding the date of demolition, neither of which is supported by reference. As I am unfamiliar with the site, I left both in place and added cite requests. Blainster (talk) 18:40, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some sources that I've been able to find, however not much is currently known/availible
Anyone have the sources for the demolition date of the boiler house and cooling towers? 2025 doesn't seem right. Eddyitor (talk) 16:57, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that @GORD3N, I will ask around also and see what I can find out. The next demolition is set to be in a month according to what I've heard, but I'm sure more will be revealed closer to the date. Eddyitor (talk) 04:48, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Here's what I can offer. I've been and made some connections with various people working on-site for the demolition contractor, Brown and Mason, and I can confirm that the date for the boiler house demolition is correct: 22nd February. However, there is no reference for this. That doesn't mean "I can't find a reference", I mean Brown and Mason do not publish explosive demolition dates anywhere - for obvious health and safety reasons. They drop a letter round to local peoples' houses a day or two in advance to let them know but that is all, other than that all information is by word of mouth. As for the cooling towers and chimney? I have heard nothing date-wise. The planning application confirms all work will be done by the end of 2025, and they have started relocating fish from the bottom of the cooling towers before work starts but that is all the information I have on the matter.
If you'd like - if it is in your own interest - I can continue posting demolition dates on this talk page, but we will never have a cite-able source for dates to put on the main page. Isaac B 17:44, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate that. Awesome shot of the demolition today, will be interesting to see when they finish demolishing the rest of the structure. Eddyitor (talk) 23:47, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Still no response. I assume they don’t disclose demolition dates to the public for health and safety reasons. The last thing they want is to have to try and keep out an increased number of people from the blowdown site than they usually have to anyway. I don’t think I’ll get an answer until demolition is imminent when they evacuate nearby villages. I’ll still keep my ear open. Not sure, I haven’t heard anything on the local grapevine either. I know preparation for the demolition of the cooling towers began last month but I have no more information than that. I’ll pop an email to the demolition contractors to see if they have any dates planned. If they get back to me with dates I’ll fill them in, but I’ll obviously have to leave it as a citation needed until they publish anything.
