I have a particular interest in the Elizabethan playwright Christopher Marlowe, and this obviously includes his rather suspicious death, the inquest on which was run by the then Coroner of The Queen's Household, William Danby. I was therefore somewhat surprised to find that, according to this article, the position didn't exist at that time! I am no expert whatsoever, and would welcome some help from someone who is, but I have tried to expand the article to reflect the long history of the position, and at the same time provide more in the way of reliable sources than had been used so far.
