All wrong[edit]

A 'cold start' is not so much about air temperature but about starting an engine without pre-heating its coolant and/or oil, pressurizing the oil circuit and/or supplying lubricant to the oiling points. --Cancun771 (talk) 21:56, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Increased wear[edit]

I hear and read talk everywhere about cold starts causing increased wear on engines, and that this is detrimental and reduces the life span of the engine. But, I can't find any references for it beyond "my mechanic said". Does anyone know of any test etc. which shows that cold starts are bad for engines? Or is it just an urban myth? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bogfind (talkcontribs) 18:12, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
