Climate change and invasive speciesInvasive species and global warming – The article is about modern, human-induced global warming, not climate change more generally. Switch around title to be more consistent with other similar articles. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 09:41, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Opposed This same basic thing has been proposed at several climate pages. It's a bit disruptive to have these all over the place, so per WP:MULTI
(A) Would some uninvolved ed please hat this one?
(B) Let's have the discussion at the first place, which, to best of my knowledge, is located at Talk:Climate_change_adaptation#Requested_move_24_October_2019.

  • Oppose, as the phrase "climate change" is historically overwhelmingly used to describe modern anthropogenic climate change. bd2412 T 18:05, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose and disruptive Let's "listen to the science". Google scholar uses the combination climate change and invasive species 3x as much as global warming and invasive species. Nine of ten articles on first page are about current climate change instead of climatic change in general. Femke Nijsse (talk) 18:06, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Students from Uppsala[edit]

Hi!

We are a group of students from Uppsala University in Sweden that are working on a project for the course “Ecological effects of climate changes”. For this project we are editing this article for the next couple of weeks. If you have any questions or suggestions, let us know!

Hope you’re enjoying isolation and doing well.

Wiki Education assignment: Introduction to Policy Analysis[edit]

This article was the subject of a Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment, between 28 March 2022 and 30 May 2022. Further details are available on the course page. Student editor(s): Sltsangg (article contribs).

Invasion Pathway (edit)[edit]

Because this section essentially explains how/what makes a species invasive, it would be worth going more into detail about the steps. Since invasion pathways specify what species need to overcome in order to become invasive, describing/explaining what these steps are is important as well as how these steps are overcome. In short, the steps listed are too brief to understand what each stage entails. Sltsangg (talk) 06:25, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Interactions Between Climate Change and Invasive Species (edit)[edit]

More so regarding the introduction, it would be worth looking more into climate change and invasive species literature. Most of the referenced articles are from over a decade ago and a good amount of headway has been made in the climate change field. Because this section and overall page deal with the relationship between climate change and invasive species, the page could benefit from a search into current literature relating to this topic. Management and Prevention (addition)[edit]

One of the key ways to manage and prevent invasive species might be to enact or alter policies dealing with invasive species. For example, creating a policy that adds a tax for introducing an invasive species. Another example would be a policy that provides subsidies and funds to companies or actors that research the management of invasive species so that they can be better dealt with. Add section about human contributions to invasive species[edit]

Humans are likely a large source of invasive species as humans bring over organisms for various purposes (domestication, entertainment, sustenance), so it may be worth adding a section elaborating on humans have contributed to the overall increase in invasive species.
