"he first stage, the Civil Services Prelims is composed of two objective exams. This is purely an eliminatory stage and plays no part in the final rankings. About 5000-6000 of the applicants are selected for the next stage called the Civil Services Mains. The second stage is more exhaustive. It has nine papers of which two are only qualifying in nature. One has to choose two optional subjects of one's choice as compared to one in the Preliminary stage. There are two papers of General Studies, Optional 1 and Optional 2 each of 300 marks and one Essay paper of 200 marks. The exam is for a total of 2000 marks. Around 1200-1400 aspirants clear Mains and sit for the third stage i.e the Civil Services Interview which is for 300 marks."

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that List of Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Toppers be merged into the article about the examination, as it is not an independently notable topic. The list itself is incomplete and only six people on the list have biography articles. The notability of some of those is also questionable, but that is a separate issue. It has been more than a month so I will perform the merge. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 03:02, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of unsourced information[edit]

Karansingh47, you just made an edit with the summary "Table was not structured properly, hence removed. Added some relevant content. I am qualified to write about the recent trends on this exam." With respect, it does not matter whether you are qualified or not. Information you add requires referencing to reliable sources, because original research is not allowed. If the table is not structured properly, then you should fix it rather than remove it. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:53, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

List of civil service exam toppers[edit]

Thomas.W, the table of the List of Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Toppers is merged from an independent article in May 2016. The list is not out of place in an encyclopedia considering the popularity and importance of the exam in India.

The initialisms "IFS" and "IFoS"[edit]

I have started a discussion at Talk:Indian Forest Service#Use of the "IFS" and "IFoS" initialisms in an attempt to reach consensus on the usage of the initialisms "IFS" and "IFoS", which are regularly contested. Your contributions on that talk page would be appreciated! ninety:one 23:47, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Upsc vs nsejs which is tougher[edit]

Nsejs is tougher than upsc and most of the people are not aware of it . This should be a topic of discussion 2405:201:4006:6841:147:8943:AF49:EF57 (talk) 09:22, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
