Removing promotional jargon[edit]

I have radically revised the page to remove the promotional-speak and try to begin revising out the blatantly plagiarized/un-cited sections. The historical context is much more detailed and provides different perspectives on the changes. Also demographics is far more detailed with verified SANDAG data. I removed the "Renaissance" section since that is a PR term being used only by the tourist and real estate industries. I also added some basic public services of relevance, and got rid of some minor establishments which I don't think meet the relevancy criteria to be included on the page. I think we need to edit and write for a different audience than this page has been written for, that is, middle-class home buyers and investors who have not lived in City Heights until very recently. Untitled[edit]

I think that maybe the criminal aspects are more widely discussed than the cultural aspects. The city is investing into to improving the area. I pass University & El Cajon daily and I feel that there is much more to discuss. And fact of trivia, some scenes of the film "A Day without a Mexican" were filmed on University Ave. Also, I do not see the Jamaican influence. I have seen Ethiopian and African. Also there is a Central American population, with El Salvador and other nations being represented by stores and restaurants. --Randomgbear 07:43, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

City Heights History[edit]

I think you need to include the history of the place. Start with Boundary Street and the Spanish land grant that restricted city development. Describe the history of East San Diego (a separate municipality in the twenties, that went bankrupt.) Tell why (or at least when) the city of San Diego expanded its boundaries. Was it to capture the ground San Diego State University is on, for taxes ? Skipping forward several decades, who decided the words "East San Diego" would no longer be uttered ? City Heights is the historic name of a mapped development from Boundary St. to 43rd, mostly 300 ft above sea level. (Originally, only to 40th). ((The numbered streets often have one or two named streets in between ech number)). The city police and other operational types call the area "Mid-City". The redevelopment folks picked the nearly forgotten name and stretched it several miles eastward and north. This is now too huge an area to be described as a particular neighborhood.

The history section needs to be cleaned up significantly. Not only does it refer to a number of unimportant events, it is full of passive voice and is unreferenced. It would be nice to replace it with 2-3 concise paragraphs. Quaoar 14:50, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

East and West Divisions[edit]

It seems that the city is now trying to divide the neighborhood into two parts according to the official neighborhood map: East City Heights, and West City Heights. http://www.sandiego.gov/neighborhoods-map/

Hoover High School needs fleshing out[edit]

I created a Herbert Hoover High School (San Diego) article and spent a good deal of time today fixing the links for all the different Herbert Hoover High School articles for the 7 different schools with that name.

At any rate, the Herbert Hoover High School (San Diego) article is only a stub right now. If you know something about the history (or anything, for that matter), I encourage you to edit it.

On a side note, the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library lists 6 high schools named after the president[1], but I found 7. --Orayzio 03:08, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
