Oppose - we generally identify churches as churches, as a practical means of identifying such articles as being about churches (as opposed to for example villages), even though most Italian church articles are currently in the "Santa Maria" format: the origin of this is a mystery, since the Italian Wikipedia always starts the corresponding articles as "Chiesa (Basilica, etc) di..." Standard for churches wants the name of the church only, without the specification "Church of". There are not villages named "Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio", so this disambiguation is not even needed in this particular case. You can disagree with this standardization, but this is not the correct place to do so. See Category:Roman Catholic churches in Palermo, Category:Roman Catholic churches in Milan, Category:Roman Catholic churches in Rome, Category:Roman Catholic churches in Florence, Category:Roman Catholic churches in Pisa, Category:Roman Catholic churches in Naples, and any other category related to churches in Italy. I refer again to WP:PRECISION (an article title about a church shd identify it as a church), which you have not addressed.. Church articles in other countries routinely do this (Category:Church of England church buildings in Norfolk, Category:Churches in Haut-Rhin, Category:Roman Catholic churches in Bavaria, etc etc). There is no reason why Italian churches shd be different. You assert a standard here on naming Italian churches, but there is just an informal convention, which has never been discussed AFAIK and is clearly at variance with how en-Wiki handles churches elsewhere. What Commmons does is irrelevant: en-Wiki makes its own decisions on conventions, but the most significant external parallel is it-Wiki, which identifies very precisely whether a building is a church, basilica, pieve & so forth: see also below.
This is exactly the place to discuss this: you are attempting to move an entirely clear Eng lang article to a less clear one for no good reason: see WP:AT. I refer here also to para 2 of [[:WP:UE}: "If there are too few reliable English-language sources to constitute an established usage, follow the conventions of the language appropriate to the subject (German for German politicians, Portuguese for Brazilian towns, and so on). For lesser known geographical objects or structures with few reliable English sources, follow the translation convention, if any, used for well known objects or structures of the same type".   • Support. This is the standard naming for Italian churches per longstanding consensus. For a start, mixing English and Italian is never a good idea.
