DOB

Why are people changing the date of her birth? She is clearly close to 40, as her IMDB page attests.

Obviously the IMDB page is wrong. She is old and has wrinkles. I read in a magazine she is close to 40.

Can you provide any sort of reliable source? You don't even seem to be consistent with her age — you edited the article to say she was born in 1973 and then later you wrote 1975, which is it? I think that are are just being a troll. This article from 2005 calls her a "30-year-old". So for now I'm going to side with IMDB and the San Francisco Chronicle unless you can provide some reliable source saying her age is otherwise. Qutezuce 00:52, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

It's wrong. I sent a message to her myspace linked from her official site, and they confirmed that imdb has her birthday wrong.

This is really weird. I made a comment on the Chelsea Lately talk page calling into question her age. Then, I came here and found it was a bit of an issue here too! Crazy. So, Ms. Handler is a regular on Scarborough Country, and has been on Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld? That brings up the question of whether she herself is a conservative.

That doesn't prove much, these days. My conservative Republican parents groan and roll their eyes at the mere mention of Bush! Just about everyone hates him nowadays. And you know what? It couldn't have happened to a better person. . . .

Anyway, the main reason for this edit is to restore my original title for this section. That sentence fragment, tacked on at the end, was irritating to look at, and there was never any content to back it up. Just . . . "And bigot". Strange. If the drive-by editor had turned the title into something better -- more creative, funnier, more insightful, more accurate -- I wouldn't a bit! But I don't like being edited to look stupider.

Come on, use common sense. The only way Handler could possibly be 33 is if she's spent half her life in a tanning bed. Rule of thumb: if there are two proposed birthyears for a person, go with the older one. 2 background checks I ran show CHELSEA J HANDLER from Livingston, NJ and LA, CA to be 33. Wiki doesn't allow them as sources but anyone who thinks she is older should try and find a report saying so. Satanico (talk) 03:28, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Age: Dig something up people

There is no way, I repeat NO WAY she was born in 1975. Can't someone find a HS yearbook? Outside of her looks (which obviously point to late 30's) all of her mannerism/references suggest she was a teenager in the early-mid '80s. I put her birth year in the 1969-1973 range, probably closer to the former. Wow, this really is a debate, huh? The official bios all list the 1975 birthyear. A comment at justjared (i can't link it apparently) says "I’ve seen her yearbook picture from class of ‘93. She’s just a prime example of what drinking/partying too hard can do to ya." If she graduated high school in 1993, that is consistent with a 1975 birth date. The Livingston High School (Livingston, New Jersey) page also says class of 1993, and one might think that alumni would edit that page if it was incorrect (the info was added to that page on April 26, 2007). There is a classmates.com profile [1] that lists a "chelsea handler" for the class of 1989, but that could be a fake, because the profile was only created on June 16, 2008. There are two other "chelsea handler" profiles for the class of 1993. One was created on April 2, 2005. The other on November 9, 2002--so if she was lying this lie goes way back. Perez Hilton had an accusatory post[2] in February 2010 without any backup, but one comment says "Ok, I went to Livingston High School when she says she was there. She was not there when I started and she wasn't there when i graduated. There is no way she's 35. Definitely closer to 40!"--but that could be fake comment, he could just check a yearbook. Here is a clip [3] where Chelsea pokes fun at the controversy over her age. This [4] comment on a blog claims to be from a classmate insisting she is 33 (at the time in early 2009). Charity Work

I was going to add in a section about her charity work, which included donating 125,000 dollars to Jenny McCarthy's autism charity, but I don't really know how to do it!

Mother's Death

"However" makes no sense.

The article reads "On the July 19th, 2010 episode of her show, she confirmed she is dating Animal Planet star, animal handler, print model, and television producer Dave Salmoni.[20] However, on September 2, when asked by guest Melanie B if she was single, Chelsea stated that she was.[21]"

"However" is a word used to flag some actually or potentially contradictory or conflicting information. But there's no contradiction or inconsistency between someone _dating_ and someone being _single_. Indeed, MOST of the time someone who's dating IS single. Hence, the word "However" is out of place. "Is dating X" never has, and does not yet, mean "is married to|with X."

Fuzzy Career

The article is confusing. Her career history is incomplete and poorly written. It says she started as a stand-up comedian then started appearing on "Girls Behaving Badly and on other shows". Next she hosts her own show on Oxygen network and then abruptly hosts the MTV Music Awards. Who Do You Think You Are?

According to a report from the Times of Israel, the programme "Who Do You Think You Are?" discussed the fact Chelsea Handler's mother was Jewish, while her father was not (which differs from the information in the Wikipedia article. The comedienne, in fact, was surprised to find that her father had a been in the German Army in World War II and had in fact been a Nazi.. Thanks for pointing this out. However, it appears the newspaper got the details wrong. I found this clip of the show and it is consistent with the info currently in the article. Handler's maternal grandfather, Karl Stoecker, was the one who served in the German Army. Thus that side of her family is very unlikely to have been the Jewish one.

And also, while I don't know the exact technicalities, I am not sure all German soldiers during WWII are necessarily considered Nazis. While he certainly could have been, in the video clips I watched he was not referred to as a Nazi. --Dfred (talk) 17:44, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
