My grandfather's name was Frederick Arthur Talbot (also known as Frederick Arthur Ambrose Talbot). He was born in 1880 in the District of Pancras in England, and died in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1924 while accompanying the Duke of Wales on a cross Canada railway trip. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Pointe Claire, Quebec, Canada. He was married and had three children - Wilhemina (my mother), Netta, and Freda.

He was a prolific writer - most of his books dealt with science and inventions. My understanding is that he also wrote some fiction books, such as one written after the Boer War in which he was a newspaper reporter. My understanding also is that he was in line to become the Earl of Shrewsbury. So far difficult to prove, my understanding as handed down by my mother to me is that he did not wish to accept the title and responsibilities and that he proceeded to marry a commoner (my grandmother, reportedly a barmaid in Brighton) in order to not have to accept the title. There is so much that I don't know but wish to learn about my grandfather, my grandmother, my grandfather's life in England...

Incorrect category[edit]

I disagree with him being categorised as one of the 'French founders of automobile manufacturers' in connection with the Talbot-Clemente company, as he was not a French citizen nor ethnically French. He was rather a British (English) founder of an Anglo-French company. I will therefore delete him from the category.Cloptonson (talk) 12:05, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
