Sourcing

The recent expansions need to be sourced to reliable, independent sources (?)—I suggest using the video game reliable sources custom Google search. I also have a ton of sources in the page history. The article needs to focus on what secondary sources said about the characters (reception, character development/creation) rather than just repeating primary source lore. czar 15:10, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

In fact, most of this should move straight to Wikia. Our articles about fictional topics need to keep an "out-of-universe" tone, which the current text does not. czar 15:18, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

Please add the word "spiraling" before "spirit dragon that can travel through walls to hit its targets" in the Hanzo section. This will imply that it is not a companion dragon or similar, that can make unique or different movements. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Overwatch#Hanzo

Thanks,

In-universe content

The in-universe content in this article is out of control. The characters should be introduced as characters in a video game, not with full names, ages, and occupations like they're going to work tomorrow. See the aforementioned link—we use an out-of-universe tone on WP. I've pared this stuff out before but it keeps coming back, I imagine because editors see it repeated in the other sections. czar 01:04, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Doomfist

Seeing as Doomfist is a group of characters, I'm wondering how exactly should it be handled? The new pretty character page for Doomfist has information for both the third Doomfist, Akande Ogundimu, a playable character, and the second Doomfist, Akinjide Adeyemi, a non-playable character. So, I just wonder if there's any specific way this should be handled. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 17:35, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

Given that per the story for Ogundimu, that Adeyemi is dead, I don't think we need to worry about that. We should assume that unless Blizzard changes their minds, "Doomfist" = Ogundimu. --MASEM (t) 23:20, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Balance jokes as sources

Add timeline for new heroes?

I think it would be a nice addition to add a visual timeline of heroes added to the game from launch. Template:Timeline of release years I think is an ideal format to use, though I'm after one that is spaced by months rather than years to more specifically accommodate each hero's release date. change "headshot to shot" on the McCree one. Do this because when you take the shot it is not a headshot. I can prove this by getting McCree's in a headshot only mode and ulting. it will not kill the person locked on. QuickNick (talk) 01:20, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

Adding 'Maximilien' to "Non-Playable Characters"

Maximilien is a main character in the Doomfist Comic and is shown in the Moira Origin story. He's one of the high ranking members of Talon, alongside Moira, Reaper, Widowmaker and Doomfist

Some mention of him should be listed on this list, as we dont actually have a lot of Omnic characters known in Overwatch's story.

"Maximilien is an Omnic member of Talon as well as one of its high ranking leaders.

Maximilien was first seen in a casino in Monaco. Doomfist wanted to meet him to "get the lay of the land". During their meeting, the two discussed the impact Doomfist's imprisonment had on Talon and its members, stating that some members were pleased to see him go to prison, of which he was not. Their conversation was interrupted by a few of said members entering the casino and approaching them, which made Doomfist and Widowmaker get up and fight them.

Maximilien was later seen in a meeting in Venice, with other members of Talon's council of leaders. The meeting was about deciding the next course of action to take, with Doomfist stating "we have a war to start". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.197.228.48 (talk) 15:33, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Regarding Symmetra's rework

When Sym's rework goes live for all servers (which will move her from Support to Defense), then we can relocate her in this list. But while this is only in the PTR, she should be kept as Support (as most players will see this.) --Masem (t) 22:40, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Hero 28

I know Blizzard has officially show him, but has not yet ascribed a name (even though good bets its Hammond). Waiting to add once we get that name. --Masem (t) 14:28, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

This is just prepping on history sources. To be added (hopefully today, since PTR still seems down):
Hammond had already been introduced as a character in the Overwatch world with the addition of the "Horizon Lunar Colony" map in May 2017 that referenced a smaller test subject named Hammond.[1] Further, with gameplay changes made to the Horizon map released onto the PTR in May 2018, a new room previously blocked had been opened, showing that Winston and Hammond had coordinated their escape from the colony together.[2] The Blizzard Overwatch social media accounts also began teasing a new hero starting in late June 2018.[2]
Still need any powers and official narrative and well as confirming PTR release. --Masem (t) 16:40, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

Merge discussion

I am proposing to have the standalone page for Genji merged back into the main Characters of Overwatch article as it is a redundant content fork. The development info overlaps with Hanzo's, and I am not seeing any substantial coverage for the character that isn't already covered on the main character article. Haven't come across any commentary that would fit into a reception section from preliminary searches either. About half of the sources are primary in nature so the state of the sourcing is very weak.
