Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move all, except for the late addition Nam Goong Min as explained below. Anyone is of course free to request renaming separately for that one if needed. Jafeluv (talk) 22:37, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

– stylise names according to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean) with only the first syllable capitalized and hyphenated. Michaela den (talk) 11:21, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. The proposed format is standard for Korean names nowadays. See Chosun Ilbo (for "Cha In-pyo") or Korea Herald (for "Bae Yong-joon"). Kauffner (talk) 14:48, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I agree. I think Korean names are clearer to people who don't know much Korean (i.e. the average wikipedia reader) if they're standardized. Pancakeysshi (talk) 17:22, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is it possible to add Nam Goong Min? It should be moved to 'Nam Goong-min' for the same reasons. Pancakeysshi (talk) 19:15, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I requested that Nam Goong Min be added to the list. I have researched some more, and (e.g. according to his official Facebook) it seems, that the correct romanization besides "Nam Gung Min" / "Nam Goong Min" is NOT "Nam Goong-min" but "Namgoong Min" / "Namgung Min". I have also just noticed, that the article was already moved to Namgoong Min recently. I'm sorry for the trouble caused by my mistake! Please remove the article from this list of requested moves. Thank you! Pancakeysshi (talk) 23:53, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

:*I'm not sure how to add to the list after the RM has been posted but after this goes through I guess another one will have to be posted to cover all the others that's been missed. Sorry.--Michaela den (talk) 21:31, 30 October 2012 (UTC) Thanks Kauffner--Michaela den (talk) 09:55, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment WP:NC-KO#Romanization of names first notes Personal ... names should generally be romanized according to the nameholder's preference, or if it cannot be determined, established English spelling, and we have Syngman Rhee instead of Yi Seung-man. Is it certain that the current titles are not according to nameholders' preferences and not established English spellings? --Kusunose 05:39, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • JoongAng ("Chae Jung-an"), Chosun ("Zo In-sung"), Korea Herald ("Kang Dong-won"), Korea Times ("Kim Hyun-joo"), KBS ("Song Joong-ki"), and the rest of the Korean English-language media consistently use the proposed style. So does AP ("Bae Yong-joon"). How do you suggest we determine the "nameholder's preference"? Kauffner (talk) 07:13, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong picture for profile.[edit]

The picture for Cha In Pyo's Wikipedia page is of a different Korean actor, Jang Hyuk. Please fix this mistake. 2601:410:8002:E10:81BB:D0E8:D777:3302 (talk) 16:02, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
