Self Declaration[edit]

I currently work for this university in one of the senior positions and as one part of my job, I am the overall in-charge of several sections of the official website, official social media pages in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, as well as, some of the education related portals. Although I have edited this page, I have not introduced any sections or sentences that can be perceived as glorifying the university and will not do so in future too!

I have properly sourced materials that can be used to expand the article to at least a B-Class one. I can also upload own photographs and release them under CC license that can be used in the article. However, I do NOT want to get in to a situation that may be viewed as a COI issue.

Can some experienced editor and admins advise me on this issue? What should be the right course of action for me in this case? Thanks in advance. Shovon (talk) 11:32, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shovon Here are some suggestions : 1) Reveal your relationship with the college on your page. This will help others to have a better knowledge about you. 2) Try to avoid editing on a page where you have a WP:COI. You can do minor edits though. For major edits its better to ask some one else to edit. They will be happy to edit it for you and the article will have NPOV. 3) On a personal front i don't have any issues with COI editors tidying the article. They do give valuable information also. But in your case it's a grave situation. You are being paid to promote the entity. So its better to ask someone else to do major editing on this page for you. Happy editing.
