Mid-Norway?[edit]

I suggest that this page is moved to the name Mid-Norway. First; it reflects better the Norwegian name Midt-Norge. Second; I believe that geographical names that starts with Central usually would make the reader think of a country's capital and it's surroundings. I would prefer to find out what the regional authorities call themselves their region in English before moving the article. Some organizations and enterprises in Norway are using the name Mid-Norway [1][2] in English texts. It's also worth noting that Sweden's Mittuniversitetet calls itself Mid Sweden University in English. If the change is done then Central Norway Regional Health Authority and Central Norway Pharmaceutical Trust would likely need to be evaluated for a similar name change. —Lappspira (talk) 16:04, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lappspira: Concerning the Regional Health Authorities, I'm sorry to say that our government has chosen to translate to Central Norway Regional Health Authority. #notmygovernment . Nevertheless would I suggest to move the page. Bw --Orland (talk) 15:02, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would vote against the move. There are other pages on Wikipedia with similar terms, like Central United States, Central China, Central Australia, Central Finland, Central India, Central Switzerland, Central Denmark Region etc., none of which contain the capital or largest city, so I fail to see a problem. The fact that large public institutions use "Central Norway" also weighs heavily against a move. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration also translates it's "Region midt" to "Central Region". [3] Similarly the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property translates "Statsbygg Midt-Norge" as "Statsbygg Central Norway". [4] There also is no term in Norwegian that I am aware of that would compete for the translation. The larger capital area is sometimes referred to as "det sentrale østlandsområdet" (poorly translated as "the central east land area"), but to translate that as "Central Norway" would be a stretch to say the least. The current situation where Mid-Norway redirects to Central Norway should be sufficient. Nidator T / C 21:50, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
