Comments about the war years by 190.236.152.35[edit]

Move this from the article: Bjmullan (talk) 17:52, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING IN THE HISTORY OF cASTLEROCK OF THE WAR YEARS. I WAS STATIONED THERE DURING THE WAR FOR A ERIOD OF ABOUT 6 MONTHS BEFORE GOING TO THE THAMES ESTUARY, IWAS A RADAR OPERATOR AND WE WERE BILLETED IN THE CASTLE. HOW STRANGE THAT NOTHING IS MENTIONED OF THIS.....OF THE TOWERS.....OF RAF AND WAAF BEING HOUSED IN THE CASTLE. THE PEOPLE OF COLERAINE WERE SO KIND TO US. AILEEN HOSEA (CORPORAL BALDWIN) CALLE NUEVE, 1044/502 CORPAC, SAN ISIDRO, LIMA 27 PERU, SOUTH AMERICA
If they could provide sourced information on it, then i'd glady help put it into the article. Mabuska (talk) 19:38, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Mabuska, the castle he mentions is more than likely Downhill House which does make a brief mention to it's use during the war. The area is still littered with old WWII buildings overlooking the sea. Bjmullan (talk) 19:52, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cushy Glen[edit]

It stated in the article that there is a tree where the Highwayman, Pat 'Cushy' Glen was hanged. According to the Derry Journal in 1799 it is well documented that Pat 'Cushy' Glen was shot on the Murderhol Road, today known as the Windyhill Road by one of his intended victims. I am therefore removing the reference to the hanging of Glen in Castlerosk. Captainbeecher (talk) 10:32, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm reverting it for the time being. Was he shot dead or shot and injured? If he was shot and injured he could still be hanged afterwards. Mabuska (talk) 12:27, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Strike that, i see you clarified it in your edit summary. Mabuska (talk) 12:28, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
