Castle Cornet during the English Civil War[edit]

Hi, I understand Castle Cornet had an interesting history during this period. It was Royalist while the rest of Guernsey was with Parliament. The castle garrison bombarded St Peter Port, were in turn besieged, and eventually had to surrender after holding out for many months. I'm sure there was also an episode where some jurats being held prisoner in the castle escaped to Guernsey across the rocks, while under fire from the castle garrison. Anyway, if someone has a more coherent picture than me I think it would be nice to add these details to the main article. Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.174.8.253 (talk) 12:31, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article expanded. There is probably enough information for a whole page on the civil war era, but not from me today. Martin a Donkey 23:31, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

'Small group' of German Soldiers?[edit]

I think the group that occupied guernsey can probably be called more than a 'small group'. I'm led to believe the force consisted of batallion-strength numbers, 10,000 or more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.240.128.75 (talk) 15:15, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is supposed to mean the garrison of the castle, not the garrison of Guernsey itself. Martin a Donkey 23:31, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
