Why is this an article?[edit]

Why does this merit an article? Can't it be merged, with 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Sevastopol, into 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Russia? The article at present has mundane background info that is found in other articles with the addition of one line on the first case in March.--Pestilence Unchained (talk) 07:43, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merging this into Russia would be controversial since Crimea belongs to Ukraine by law and by its globally recognized status – not worth the edit warring and extended discussion to try. Sevastopol might be merged into this article, as it is geographically in the republic and peninsula of Crimea (although administratively separate), according to both Ukrainian and Russian laws. —Michael Z. 2020-04-11 16:51 z

– The article treats Crimea as if it's solely an administrative region of Ukraine, when it is actually a disputed region between two countries. Would be better to just rename the article to a more neutral geographical name and merge it with the article about Sevastopol. This is especially relevant considering the Crimean count is included in the Russian count. --Ratherous (talk) 04:56, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Support The Autonomous Republic of Crimea does not de facto exist in 2020, and the term "Crimea" makes more sense anyway. The present title is like naming the 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Taiwan article to 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Taiwan Province, People's Republic of China. --Xwejnusgozo (talk) 12:35, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Article scope[edit]

Since the name is changed the article text should be edited to make its scope clear. The city of Sevastopol is in the Crimean peninsula, but as a national-level city doesn’t belong to the Crimean Autonomous Republic.
