Notable alumni[edit]

List needs more sources.

Unfortunately I doubt records from the first 100 years of the school are easy to come by. Certainly I don't know how many there is down in CBC. Many pupils in the early years would have floated in for several pre emigration never to see Ireland again. Assessment[edit]

I'm assessing this article for WikiProject Schools following a request. I'm also giving this article this article high-importance due to the significant history and many notable alumni. I'm giving this article B-class, though I would say it is on the lower end of this rating and needs significant improvements before it can be given good article status. The article needs to have better referencing, both in terms that there are still significant gaps in places, and that citation templates such as {{Cite web}} should be fully utilised - there certainly shouldn't be bare URLs in references. The pictures in the article are nice, though some of these could be moved to Wikimedia Commons, and I have to nominate File:Charles Haliday.jpg for deletion for lacking permission on the licence given (is this public domain?). The article could be re-structured to follow a more standard layout, with missing sections added as appropriate - see WP:WPSCH/AG#S. Also, the current article title does look a little arbitrary and should be reviewed - it should either be the official name or the most common name.

The article lead is not of a bad length though it could better summarise the article per WP:LEAD. Don't bother quoting the mission statement, see WP:WPSCH/AG#WNTI. The history section is of a good length though the paragraphs could be a bit longer, and more detail on the re-building of the school (with references) would be good somewhere in the article. Some of the content needs to be made clearer, for example "This caused considerable controversy in 2005 in the national media when it was announced, as CBC would receive a portion of the costs of funding the building despite being a fee-paying school." Funding from where? The government it appears from the reference, but readers shouldn't have to check that to find out. Some of the statements in the extracurricular section are also unsupported. "From the beginning, Rugby Union has been the main competitive team sport of the school." Says who? The alumni list is impressive, but every single name in that list needs a reference.

Overall, this article has a lot of potential, but needs to present itself better to the reader. CT Cooper · talk 19:38, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
