Birth name inconsistancy[edit]

The biography section says he was born Douglas Woods, whereas the summary panel on the left says his birth name is/was Douglas Trendle. All the articles about his illness in the references section give the latter, but as they were all written at the same time, they could all have used the same incorrect reference. It appears (from the biog) his adoptive name is Trendle. presumably therefore Woods was his birth mother's surname.Adagio67 (talk) 13:20, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, the three articles about his being taken ill in Perugia all give Trendle as his "real name", not his "birth name", so I don't have any concern about an incorrect source there. I take it that the "Douglas Woods" claim was taken from The Virgin Encyclopedia of Eighties Music, which I don't have on hand to see what it says about whose name was "Woods". Assuming the account in the biography is basically correct, his birth presumably could have been registered with either his mother's or his father's surname. Frankly, his birth name is probably of less interest than his non-stage name that he's had almost his whole life. So if only one of them is to be listed in the panel then Trendle is better, but "birth name" might be the wrong title for the field in this case. Onebyone (talk) 10:44, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
