We don't need a list of every member... Can someone trim it down to the most notable members, or something? Or remove it entirely? I don't know who's notable and who isn't, although a short list of members might be nice. I just don't know. Grandmasterka 17:40, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Of course someone can, and I did, using the very simple criterion of the ones who had articles in WP, plus a few I knew of who soon will. But the members of all national academies are notable, and the ones of the US academies are all listed in a WP list. Of course, all of them have working WP links, but that is primarily because of the ethnocentrism of the en WP. The complete list is still in the history, which is fortunate because I could not find it on the academy site--just a search box--and it would be worthwhile inserting all those with pages in the Portuguese WP, together with the interwiki links. At that point, the list should become a separate list article, as with the other academies.
Nominating this for deletion was perhaps not an ideal way of going about things, but it did fortunately call it to my attention, as I happen to be one of the few people who regular check the proposed deletions (prods) and this one certainly stood out. So all's well.
The articles still needs expansion in other respects, and I tagged it.

Alphabetization[edit]

List of members should be alphabetized by last name, rather than by first as it is now. --Pete Tillman (talk) 08:08, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
