Meeting notability guidelines (Nov 2019)
I thank @Gene93k: for reviewing this page and adding categories and tagging for notability. I created the page because I kept seeing Johnson's name appear in Chicago newspapers' coverage of local politics. To reflect this, I have updated the page by adding more content and references from Politco, the Chicago Tribune, and the Chicago Sun-Times. The new content and references cover the subject's relationship to CTU, rumors about the 2023 mayoral election, and his sponsorship of a major piece of legislation at the County Board. Chicago mayoral election and living persons/NPOV standards
Hi all! I wanted to say first of all I appreciate User:Swan787 for having added information on endorsements, policy positions and so on to the page.
I wanted to give a quick note here to outline my attempts to keep the contributions made while meeting Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view standards. Information about his policies, where reported on, seems to me completely appropriate. Where I'm a bit more concerned is the use of language like describing his opponent Vallas, in contrast, as 'tough-on-crime' (this seems like an opinion, not a fact), as well as dubiously relevant. Pursuant to this, and Wikipedia:FIXTHEPROBLEM, I've attempted to tried to add fuller context to the policies presented. Similarly, I think the information provided on his endorsements by the Democratic Socialist Caucus was helpful, but I felt that if we wanted to include endorsements on the article, we ought to include the broader set. However, I am open to the idea that tracking endorsements on this article may be either difficult to update in real-time or redundant, given the separate endorsement sections on the 2023 Chicago mayoral election page. I am unsure whether to include specific information on issue polling (such as on the 'top issue' of Chicago voters), but in the interest of making conservative rather than aggressive changes I have chosen to continue to include it, again, alongside balancing material. Update: after the mass reversion of some edits attempting to fix the problem without any further discussion on the talk page, I left a message on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring to prevent further edit warring from going on. I have not reverted any of the reverts personally, and am waiting to hopefully get a second or third opinion. 25Means (talk) 20:29, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
After the resolution of the notice by an admin permanently blocking Swans787, I'm reverting to the last edit prior to their mass-reversion. As mentioned above, I'm unsure with what to do with some of the information they added (endorsements, tendentious issue polling). In the edit to which I reverted, I contextualized and balanced this information to the best extent I could, but it's possible nevertheless some of it fails to belong on the page.
