Can someone re-visit the following paragraph (as copied from the main article):-

Bland's glottal gargle sound was patterned after Aretha Franklin's father, the Reverend C. L. Franklin. For all his rough and raw vocal projections, Bland was backed by a band that delivered some of the smoothest and most modulated arrangements in the blues genre. [citation needed] Sometimes referred to as "the Lion of the Blues", Bland was as regal in appearance as his band was musically mellow. His album covers tell the story, showing Bland beautifully manicured in the sportsman style, his large frame nattily dressed and dripping with conspicuous, but tasteful jewelry. Though not conventionally handsome, Bland had a certain magnetism that had a profound effect on his fans.

A more balanced, encyclopedic approach to the wording is needed. Thank you,

  • I think I have it sufficiently neutralized. The second half of that paragraph was pure POV and had to be deleted, IMHO. -- Butseriouslyfolks 07:52, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
    • I looked around, and as far as I can see Aretha Franklin's father is not very well known. Also, I could not find a description of his voice being rough and raw. As much as I hate to remove the two or three sentences describing his style, I can't find anything that agrees with the statement.Xpanzion 05:12, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Can someone re-visit the following paragraph (as copied from the main article):-
One of the finest singers in post-war blues, Bland has sadly failed to reach the across-the-board popular acclaim that his influence and craft deserves.
Some editors, seemingly, can not resist putting their own viewpoint into articles. Fancruft bollocks, say I.

Bland a recluse

Hope no-one minds, but I removed an uncited paragraph stating that Bland is a recluse and doesn't sign autographs(?) I couldn't find anything to back it up. ♥♪♫♥♪♫ 10:51, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Problematic Style and No Citations

That first paragraph's end is neither substantiated nor written in a style appropriate to an encyclopaedia. Hopefully someone will pick up on this because I have neither the time nor the knowledge to correct either issue. 219.88.89.99 (talk) 03:49, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
