Source for Shamarpa quote?[edit]

Can anyone give a source for the quote by the Shamarpa? Billlion

The source for the quote is: Kagyu Life International, No.1, 1994 Copyright ©1994 Diamond Way Buddhist Centers USA

It can be found online at:

Please can it be reinstated? Vajraspanner

Sure go ahead and put it back in as a quote with the source cited. Try to find a NPOV way to put it. Is there some quote from the rival faction about the Black Crown? One way to handle this kind of situation is to say what both sides of the contoversy say about something. Billlion 10:45, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The page looks rather boring without a picture, can we use one off this site? http://www.kagyu-asia.com/l_16k_crown.html There's several. Chuangzu (talk) 20:38, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Color of Black Crown[edit]

hello, [1]. Is the truth of the information disputed?

Yes. At one point in time there was apparently a less valuable replica made of the original black crown. Some claim that the original was black, and the replica dark blue. This has come to be an issue in the Karmapa controversy. Supporters of Urgyen Trinley are wont to describe the crown as having been dark blue. Some supporters of Thaye Dorje say that the reason Tai Situpa wanted control of Rumtek was because he wanted to get his hands on a number of valuables including the Black Crown. And that the reason that he and other Urgyen Trinley supporters are going around saying it's actually dark blue, is to cover up the fact that the original, more valuable, black crown is now gone. So it's all very messy and unclear really.
Allegedly a number of valuables have gone missing from Rumtek, so until the inventory is complete and the results made known none of this will be certain.

Thank you. I cannot contribute further thinking to this subject since I am unable to differentiate Urgyen Trinley from Thaye Dorje.

But I remember that all of the (buddhist) objects which seem to be black to me, are said to be dark blue, in reality. for example Samantabhadra or the medicine Buddha. Only exception: the black thangkas, that is the thangkas with black background.
