Category assignment[edit]

This is not a non-coding RNA so I don't think it should be in that category. I am loathe to remove it as it is the only entry in that category that will probably be useful in the future. I'm afraid I don't know enough about wikipedia to know if it will disappear in a puff of smoke if I take out its only element :) Perhaps it should be in a new category of cis-regulatory RNA elements? Sorry, Alex, I didn't understand the distinction before. Please feel free to move the article to the better category; or I can do it in a little while. Wikipedia categories don't disappear even if they have no members, so it's safe to remove this article. Is there a listing somewhere of the various categories you'd like the 574 Rfam families to go into? No problem, its an easy mistake to make. I added a few more things into the Cis-reg category. Also thanks for putting hammerhead into the Ribozyme category. The categories for Rfam families occur in the TP line of the stockholm format file. Things with TP Gene should go in the non-coding RNA category and things with TP cis-reg should go in the Cis-regulatory category. Hopefully you will have seen that Jennifer has a list of Rfams to start off with. Its probably best not to make them all yet as some already have existing wikipedia entries. Thanks, Alex! I'm sorry that I missed your note here earlier, but I'm glad to get it now. I've been studying the Rfam USERMAN, so I'm beginning to understand how the categorization should work; is the tree structure there OK for the hierarchy of categories here?
Unfortunately, I didn't notice Jennifer's list of initial Rfams; could you point me to it? I completely agree that we should start with a few pages and refine those to everyone's liking. My coding is going well, but I'm always slower than my optimism. ;) BTW, I left a note for Jennifer on her Talk page; we were thinking of concentrating the Rfam discussion at her home. :) Talk to you soon, Willow 17:38, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article could greatly benefit from a bit more depth and breath in the description of the mechanism of the regulatory element and how it interactes with the ribonucleic-protein particles. The article does mention examples, but specific examples such as the role of bicoid 3' UTR regulatory in drosphilia embryo as in this article.
