This article doesn't make sense. It says Berkshire was original Korstchak. It also says Gordon was renamed Berkshire as a favor to Coolidge. Those stories conflict. It also says Gordon disbanded in 1947, but it also says Berkshire started in 1916. But Berkshire is supposed to succeed Gordon. Somehow it disbanded before Gordon did - 1941, says the article - that doesn't make sense.

So far as I can verify, Gordon started in 1930. http://musicmountain.org/our-mission/ Gordon died in 1948. The quartet was the resident quartet of Music Mountain. In 1948, Berkshire was engaged to replace Gordon. http://www.nytimes.com/1981/01/11/nyregion/a-sound-of-discord-at-music-mountain.html My guess is that Berkshire was previously Korstchalk. I don't see that any members of Gordon subsequently became members of Berkshire, so again, I would guess that Berkshire merely took up as new quartet in residence at Music Mountain, and Gordon simply ended upon the death of its lead violinist.
