Battlefield: Hardline or Battlefield Hardline[edit]

I decided to use Battlefield Hardline because on the EA [blog post] they have the official game name as Battlefield Hardline in italics. Ariesk47 (talk) 02:27, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy[edit]

In light of the 15min single player gameplay trailer and information released by EA about Battlefield:Hardline, it is plainly apparent that their goal in this game is to paint members of the tea party, conservatives, gun owners, and other "rednecks" as nothing more than KKK members without a hood. To take such a hardline (ironic) political stance in a game MUST be fairly addressed and done so plainly. It would be easy to think of the outcry following games with a reversed direction--such games would instantly garner the attention of notable media figures such as Aneeta Sarkeesian and news personalities such as Rachel Maddow to commentate on the "alarming state of video game culture within America today, as the new release 'Battlefield:Hardline' allows you to target peaceful Occupy:Wallstreet demonstrators and--even more shocking--minorities!" In fact, this is not just speculation as many gaming websites did an article on just that when it was discovered that in the game Watch_Dogs some more sadistic players were using the information garnered to target minorities or other people with whose beliefs they did not agree.

It would be simple to revert my edit and block me on the basis of "inciting a false narrative" or some other charge, but that would truly only beg the question; are you truly interested in what the facts are? Or do you just want to push a PC narrative, and discount voices that are currently not in the majority? After watching the single player trailer AGAIN, which is the only *verifiable* material we have on the subject and not conjecture based on your opinion, we have (and this is not an exhaustive list):
*A latino-American coupled with an African-American pair of protagonists (inb4 "RACIST!" --I'm black myself.
*All the "bad guys" are white and Southern, speaking with stereotypical accents. I've been to the South many times, and those who speak with a Southern Drawl are getting fewer, not more numerous.
*The villains wear Gadsden Flags and display its iconography prominently in their "base", and Marcus remarks upon finding it "One black president and he (the villain) completely lost his shit."
*Earlier in the trailer, when Nick is sneaking around, the villains can be heard making casually racist remarks about "hippies and Mexicans".

It would actually be helpful if one created a "Controversy" section. There's lots of people reporting on this (inb4 Glenn Beck). I'm talking Breitbart and Fox News. The controversy section seems okay, with the militarization of the police force their as a bonus. You could add the Fox News source if you want too. Also, the primary antagonist is not the tea party, but "against once trusted partners on the force"[1] so it's not "my opinion". Supergodzilla2090 (talk) 17:54, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I apologize for the snark earlier. Wasn't necessary. Could you link me to more info about the BF:H single player story or is that all we have at this point? Because if that is, you're right. There's probably more than just "HAET TEA PARTY" going on here. But it did seem strange to me that that particular section was highlighted during Gamescom. Especially because, were a game made where you were a white supremacist or other racist killing blacks or, say, OWS members or some other progressive group, media would be all over that all the time.2620:0:E50:300D:C95B:6368:9772:33B0 (talk) 20:54, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That is most of it. Their is Eurogamer [2] and Polygon [3] the later mentions a "Roark" who is a crime lord in LA. As for the 15min clip it captures most of the elements of the campaign such as the option to chose stealth or gun play, the Police Scanner and the use of the hook shot. The militia as an enemy in this level is just random chance.

Another reason why I think a "Controversy" section would be useful is that the lead paragraph states it was released "for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One" but without mentioning how many discs are there on each system's version or the hard drive space required for each version's install. --Fandelasketchup (talk) 17:01, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I don't know why use "Microsoft Windows" instead of just "PC" for PC games, since not everyone uses Windows to play games, others use Mac or Linux --Fandelasketchup (talk) 17:01, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The number of disks required and space on hard disks is not a "controversy". We say Microsoft Windows because that's the only supported PC platform. We don't cover emulation. -- ferret (talk) 17:16, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Where in my original question did I mention the word "emulation"? I simply said "not everybody uses Microsoft Windows to play games, others use Mac or Linux" and those OSs can be installed on a PC without the need for an emulator --Fandelasketchup (talk) 14:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
