Serbian Empire and House of Mrnjavčević[edit]

  1. Last serbian emperor (Uroš) died in 1371 and Balšić were outlaws of his central rule even when he was alive.
  2. Existence of Ivaniš Mrnjavčević is very doubtful and only mentioing of his involvment and killing int this battle comes from Mavro Orbin in 1601.
  3. After battle of Marica Balšić attacked (Đurađ I also sent away his first wife (Olivera, doughter of king Vukašin) nad remaried after battle) and ocupied parts of Mrnjavčević state (Prizren and Peć) and it is very unlikely that one of the Mrnjavčević helped Balšić in fighting against Ottomans.
  4. Modern historians (Veselinović, Andrija & Ljušić, Radoš (2001). СРПСКЕ ДИНАСТИЈЕ, СРЕДЊОВЕКОВНЕ ДИНАСТИЈЕ) believe that if Ivaniš participated in this battle, then he lived for a long time with Balšić family,so he acted as one of them and not as independent (or semi-indipendent) local feudal lord.
