Mute Man? Not Quite[edit]

We do hear Hang-gi speak at the end of the film, and even early on, we see him open his cell phone to give Myung-su an order. Myung-su's side of the conversation is shown, but we know it is Hang-gi who's talking to him. He's not mute! He just doesn't want to use his ridiculously high-pitched voice very often. Silent type. tharsaile 12:33, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are other problems with this article. It's pretty clear, for instance, that Sun-hwa and Hang-gi don't actually witness a suicide. It's just a poetic way to show that Hang-gi tells her about the suicide. tharsaile 12:37, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As I see it, it is not Sun-hwa on the picture but, as shown by the colour of the dress, the girl that commited suicide - the way I read it (maybe obvious, but as I'm not that sure, I wanted to diskuss it) the former girlfriend of Han-gi commited suicide, and as he sees Sun-hwa, extremely resembling her, he tries to win her and kind of turn her into what the dead loved one used to be. As shown through Han-gis fellow pimps, 'their kind' is unable to express love or to distinguish love from plain sexuality and oppression. Basically, he is a sick and hurt person unable to deal with his feelings in an appropriate way. As Sun-hwa realizes this towards the end of the film, she begins to understand him and develops this weird form of love-hate relationship. As I said, I'm not sure this interpretation is fully valid, but I think it is worth diskussion and pretty much plausible based on the mere shown actions of the characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tcgit (talkcontribs) 15:20, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
