Deletion of political copy and paste rant

Removal of Pop Culture section

Rationale: (1) Not relevant to development of article (2) Only two examples (3) See the controversy at Talk:Wood regarding "In Pop Culture" and "XKCD".

Also, to the poster who claims that there is controversy, it's not "Clover"; it's "Plover". Clovers are trefoil plants; plovers are wading birds. Murphy2010 (talk) 00:02, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

POV/ Copyvio?

It seems that some of the wording in this article has an unencyclopedic tone, and seems to come from NAS/ AOU literature or from some other environmentalist organization. Additionally, there are only two references in the entire article. I'll be back eventually to highlight some of my concerns and recommendations. New President- 2010

New home office

The Audubon Society moved its main offices to a new location in March 2008. Here is some information about it:

I modified the photo near the top to say 'former headquarters' because that's an exterior photo of the building where Audubon was previously located. No controversy?

Why is there no controversy section in this article? Especially with their actions aimed at [1] destroying the economy of portions of the outer banks of North Carolina] to save Clovers, a species that is not endangered nor anywhere close to it.

It's unlikely that anyone at the Audobon Society has an aim of "destroying the economy of portions of the outer banks" or anywhere else. Sustainable economies lead to better wildlife preservation, as people who are able to feed, clothe, and house their families are more likely to give a @#$% about birds in their midsts. Still, if you want to provide a section on controversy surrounding the organization, written in a balanced format, with appropriate references provided, I'm sure it would be most welcome. —Gaff ταλκ 18:23, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

National and local Audubon societies

I found an interesting reference on the evolution of Audubon societies — Rines, George Edwin, ed. (1920). Encyclopedia Americana. {{cite encyclopedia}}: Missing or empty |title= (help) Much of that information seems to fit in this article, though there are loose ends. When did the National Association of Audubon Societies for the Protection of Wild Birds and Animals become the National Audubon Society? How has the relationship between the local socities and the national society evolved? I also tried to make the boundary between history and current activities more distinct. Audubon Medal award in 2002?

I was about to revert the edit by Brenda M Timm to show Edward H. Harte was awarded the Audubon Medal in 2002. I knew that was incorrect because the National Audubon Society website shows that Mike Dombeck was awarded the medal in 2002. Ms Timm had an excellent citation, the NY Times. I searched for a retraction or correction but found none. Continuing to search, I found another spot on the NAS website that confirms award of the Audubon Medal to Harte in 2002 here. I know there's someone from the NAS headquarters around somewhere. Could you have the NAS website corrected to show who was actually awarded the medal in 2002? Please? Italicized title?

Why is the title in italics? Organizations' titles should not be italicized. I don't know how to express this in a requested move though. Wikipedian77 (talk) 22:07, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Audubon Medal

Two things... first: the statement of "108 year history" is problematic in any way as it needs constantly to be updated... there should be a reference like "as of 2012" or similar. Second: If the medal was first awarded in 1947, what has got a 108 year history of the society doing the awarding to do with the low number of recipients? It's 52 awardees in 66 years of history of the MEDAL that is important, the other 42 years never will be counting towards the award, will they? --178.200.3.229 (talk) 15:45, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

Proposal to use lower case for common names

FYI, For 10+ years, wikipedia has usually capitalized common bird names in article titles. There is now a proposal to reverse that convention. Read more and if you like comment at Talk:Crowned CraneNewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 12:21, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
