In what way did he have more of an impact?

Aubrey became one of the world's leading orchestral hornplayers of his age in the 20s and '30s. His recording e.g. of the Brahms Trio with Adolph Busch and Rudolf Serkin is still regarded as a model of musicianship and horn-technique. His teaching at Royal Academy of Music gave him a following among a new generation of horn-players who valued the vulnerability and sensitivity of his playing: his variety of tone and enormous expressive range, his clarity and vitality over what they came to see as the somewhat flashy and not-quite-respectable techniques of his more famous son.
