Great Yarmouth petition[edit]

Just to explain two corrections I have just made, the law is that the two Judges trying an election petition must be in agreement for the petition to be upheld. Neither is senior to the other in the sense of having a 'casting vote'; they can be more senior in terms of service on the bench (Grantham had 11 years advantage on Channell - appointed 1886 compared to 1897) but it doesn't actually matter. Secondly, the report on O'Malley and Hardcastle's Reports on Election Petitions indicates on pages 198-199 that the Judges found that they did not have the ability to award costs given that they had disagreed. Grantham J was surprised to find this was the case, you may not be surprised to learn. The Times' discussion of the issues seems to have been a bit casual about these details but 5 O'M & H is the recognised trial report cited in subsequent trials by counsel and Judiciary. Arthur Fell's father in law John Wortabet[edit]

A stub article should be created on him. John Wortabet and his father William Thomson Wortabet were important doctors working at an Egyptian government medical college.
