Deleting separate links for city/county and states[edit]

Please leave the separate links. It allows a reader to choose either the city/county or the state. Onel5969 TT me 21:44, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Onel5969: I don't mean to sound hostile and I know you are doing good housekeeping but this isn't the first time you are undoing my editing. Everyone has their own style of editing and I am used to mine. If I am going to have to deal with you coming behind me and undoing all my edits then there is going to be a problem. I can try to remember about not "Deleting separate links for city/county and states" as you put it above, although I don't like it, but it will take time. I am not claiming any kind of ownership or proprietary consideration before you throw that out but MOS tells you what things should not be done, not what can be done, and wide berth and latitude should be given to experienced editors. How about when it comes to AFI or whatever, I use "[name]: Detail View"? I realize "profile" may not be the best term, but it was serviceable. Anyway, you seem to be OK with "[name]: Detail View" or am I mistaken. Just letting you know so when you see I re-edited Art Mix, I don't want you to jump to the wrong idea. Hi Rms125a@hotmail.com - I was in the middle of writing a reply, when you made your edits. Thanks for toning it down, I was a bit surprised that you were coming at me with that tone. A few things. First, regarding the combining of the city into a combined city, state link. Wikipedia:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers#Infobox, directs you to Template:Infobox person, which clearly indicates for place of birth and death that the parameter should be: city, administrative region, sovereign state. Furthermore, the examples there are supportive of separating out each administrative level, rather than combining them. I try to make things easier for editors, and keeping the city/state separate makes it easier for folks to click on either. Regarding the titles of the references, I tend to use the actual title from the reference. With AFI, when you are looking at a person (actor, director, etc), it is simply the name of the person. In this particular instance, since the actor had 2 pages on AFI, I made it specific to the difference in the names (Art and Arthur). If you wanted to add anything, I guess you could add "Filmography", since that's what it is. In regards to films, there are 2 different pages you can look at: summary view or detail view. It helps researchers know which one they are looking at, so I'd put either Night Alarm: Summary View or Night Alarm: Detail View, to let folks know where I pulled the info from. Hope that makes sense. Regardless, take it easy.Onel5969 TT me 22:35, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did tone it down. I apologize but the thought of having hundreds of edits reverted, partially or otherwise, is a tad bit upsetting, as I am sure you can conjecture, if not agree. Anyway, thanks for your positive and constructive tone. Yours, Quis separabit? 23:26, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
