Split proposal[edit]

As there was no discussion place mentioned for the split proposal, I will start it here. I do not see the necessity to create a stub article for a lone Mexican calling area, nor the need to parenthetically disambiguate the title. If a separate 664 (Mexico) calling zone stub article is create, a simple hat note will suffice, from Reading WP:2DABS. It's clear that the primary topic in this case would be the NANP area code 664, as that is the most likely to be searched for. Perhaps a good place to start would be to create a Area codes in Mexico by code, or Telephone numbers in Mexico and the see if there is enough material to create stand alone articles that are not stubs. Oh wait those article already exist... Perhaps a Telephone project request to see about expanding what is already there as to not duplicate? --Notwillywanka (talk) 05:45, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The current article is about two different, unrelated topics - an area code +1 664 in Montserrat and a +52 664 in México. Two topics are normally treated as two articles or disambiguated, not just randomly lumped together like this. K7L (talk) 05:51, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see no issue with having it's own article, however it looks to me that it would be just about the only article on this site about "Mexican" area codes, apart from the list ones. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoGoodOnesLeft (talkcontribs)
I presume you're Notwillywanka under another userid? In any case, +52 664 goes with the other México codes, not with Montserrat, as they're two unrelated topics. K7L (talk) 00:51, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No need to snark. You should follow through with your SPI before making such charges. You still haven't presented any diffs as evidence there. Note that NoGoodOnesLeft is on your side in this issue. -- Brangifer (talk) 15:52, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support split. A pretty obvious solution. K7L, you need to make your support clear by bulleting and bolding it. So far no one has objected to the split proposal. -- Brangifer (talk) 15:43, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done Area code 664 (Mexico) and Area code 664 (disambiguation) have been created. I did not move this article because the North American area code is probably the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this English Wikipedia. ~Kvng (talk) 15:32, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
