Untitled[edit]

Currently most of this article is a copy from Hocking Colleges page. I know this isn't good. I am going to find out if Hocking College is willing to release their glossary "open source", and hence there will be no copyright infringement.

Also, I think the article should have some information about Theory vs. Practice, and how applied academic brings both together. But I'm not quite sure how to write this in, and source it completely. I think W. Edward Deming's quote: "Experience by itself teaches nothing...Without theory, experience has no meaning. Without theory, one has no questions to ask. Hence without theory there is no learning. " is important to reference, as it shows why industry and commercial entities need theory, but I also want to find sources to show why it is so critical that academia relates theory to the practical world.

In many ways, to me "applied academics" seems like the bridge between vocational education, and traditional education, bringing the best of both worlds. --Pordaria 22:40, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is another article that should probably be referenced, and incorporated into this article:

Your use of the material on Applied Academics in the Hocking College Academic Affairs Glossary is not infringing on any copyright because we have released that text into the public domain.
