Comments[edit]

Who writes this stuff? It is not until the third of three long paragraphs that the wacky device is described. Do we need to be reminded of man's bastardisation of man? Does the author also have a 1:15 scale model of the Marseille guillotine, too? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.109.7.136 (talk) 23:08, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yup. I just read the whole thing and I'm still none the wiser what it actually is. Some history geek seems to have gotten carried away and just gushed his wild imaginations onto the page. The material here at the moment is worse than useless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.9.176.129 (talk) 01:25, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hidden switches??[edit]

The statement that "Nabis would control the machine through hidden switches and devices" too strongly suggests some sort of electrical mechanism, which seems highly unlikely given that the time frame is the second century BC. Perhaps there were hidden levers and devices? For now, I've taken out the mention of "switches." Piperh (talk) 09:02, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Too credulous?[edit]

This article seems altogether too credulous. Why is scepticism relegated to a footnote? What is 'The historical Apega ...' a contrast to? In what sense does the wheel represent an advancement in 'technology'? 86.5.88.131 (talk) 14:03, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
