Andreas, Oikoumenios and Arethas[edit]

The commentary of Oikoumenius cannot predate that of Andreas because Oikoumenios lived in the 10th century.

Neither Andreas nor Oikoumenios are venerated as Saints. Therefore the first patristic (in the strict sense of the word) commentary on the Revelation of St. John the Divine is that written by St. Arethas of Caesarea who was bishop of the same see as Andreas (and Saint Basil the Great) and a contemporary of Oikoumenios. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.76.24.45 (talk) 20:40, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
