Untitled[edit]

I have photos of the Bourges prophet windows which I'll pop into WikiCommons and add here soon as I get the chance. If anyone has photos of the Effigy of Charles V or the St Catherine in Kortrijk, those would be much appreciated here.

Will finish formatting, proofing and adding refs over the next week.

Nice work! I see from "what links here" there is talk of JB there - I've no idea how these theories are considered today, but ideally the two articles should be harmonized. Are you putting this up for WP:DYK? Johnbod (talk) 16:05, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Johnbod - I'm new to WP so glad to know I haven't made a complete hash of things (so far)! Hadn't spotted the Rohan Hours article so glad you pointed it out. To be frank the attribution of the RH to AB is errant nonsense. Even Meiss (who dates the RH earlier than most) put it in the 1420's - i.e. at least 20 years after the death of AB (who's mentioned as 'recently deceased' in a doc of around 1403). I fear this is another example of people assuming that all surviving artworks must have been by the hand of one of the small number of named masters. Having looked at the ref cited in the RH hours, I think it needs bringing in line with more conventional Art Historical opinion as there's some wonderful flights of fancy there. Will try to get this article a bit more nailed down before looking at the various bits that link to it...
(Sorry but no idea what WP:DYK is - will have to read the help files and get back to you.) StuartLondon (talk) 16:27, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I can help with/do the DYK nomination if needed - let me know if you do one, & I'll check it. It gets the article launch publicity & I think is worth doing. Ideally you should sprinkle refs to the two main books at intervals, at least 1 per para & at any point that is very specific to one work - I just use ref>Smith, 225</ref> etc. Johnbod (talk) 16:41, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
