Time to rename this article?[edit]

This article should now be renamed since this station is no longer an active Amtrak station stop. "Amherst Railroad Station" would be a good choice.FFM784 (talk) 20:55, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Former stations generally keep their suffixes unless there's a particularly compelling reason otherwise (like a NRHP name). See, for example, Category:Former Long Island Rail Road stations. Although it's no longer served by Amtrak, its most recent railroad use is still by them. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:12, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but if I look though the list of Category:Former Amtrak stations I see many stations that still have the suffix and many that do not not. Other examples where the Amtrak suffix is not used include the former Amtrak stations on Cape Cod, but of course these were all named on Wikipedia after Amtrak stopped service. This isn't a big deal, but it just seems to me that if a station does not have passenger service and there was more than one prior passenger railroad then it should have a generic name rather than a name that is specific to a particular railroad, unless as you said, its a NRHP named station.FFM784 (talk) 21:58, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
