Reason for this article[edit]

I appreciate that Wikipedia already has an article on the Mirabell Palace (which could do with expansion based on the German article), a palace that was built directly on the site of the Altenau palace. It would be possible to cover the two in one article; but I think this unhelpful as (1) almost nothing remains of the old Altenau palace, only a few remnants in the cellars of the Mirabell palace, and (2) the Altenau palace was a historically important building in its time, belonging to a major notable figure, and (3) it is possible to write about it in a sourced manner that doesn't overlap with its successor. In fact, the German Wikipedia treats the two palaces as separate, in separate articles, so I am following that model. I hope this will be okay! Elemimele (talk) 20:37, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing[edit]

I think the sourcing isn't ideal. The original German article uses general sources as well as inline citations, which means it's hard to work out which statements are supported by what. My feeling is that the sourcing is sufficient to justify writing an article, and to assure accuracy, but is far from perfect. I have therefore gone ahead and translated, but also added tags to request improved consistency in citations, and preferably more sourcing. I agree. I have just accepted this article - clearly notable and the logic of making it a separate article is convincing. But it is not particularly well sourced yet. This is often a problem with translated articles. It would be good to get hold of the works cited and check them for exact page references. But well done on the translation project. Redirect from Schloss Altenau[edit]
