Community[edit]

Seems to me that Community should be mentioned in the body of this article. It is probably where most people recognize her from. 24.141.107.54 (talk) 08:03, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

To User:HelloAnnyong, just wanted to congratulate you for your awesome work on the article ! I have previously tagged the article for speedy deletion as a copyright violation (btw, it has been deleted 5 times in the past for this reason), but just didn't think about a "third opinion", as your user page suggests. Thanks for being such a great editor ! --79.178.130.241 (talk) 02:34, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Heh. My pleasure. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 02:40, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

Someone kindly change the picture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.143.121.147 (talk) 06:49, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why does the picture need to be changed? Alexroller (talk) 20:00, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That post is over a year old, so I'd say ignore it. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 00:28, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Combining Titles[edit]

Based on the poster of Montana Amazon I believe it's the same movie as Adventures of the Dunderheads. Note also Alison Brie plays a character named Ella in both. However, they are listed as separate movies in 2011 and 2012. They should be combined under one title and year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.171.233.14 (talk) 23:25, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"...her father has Scottish and Irish ancestry"[edit]

With a name like Schermerhorn? I suspect he's got more ancestry than just Scottish and Irish! Should this not be "her father is of XXXX, Scottish, and Irish ancestry," where XXXX is whatever other ancestry he has? Jim_Lockhart (talk) 04:10, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No doubt that you're right, but in the video interview reference, she just says Scottish and Irish. Other sources needed. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 05:21, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Schermerhorns are a very old and established New York City dynasty of Dutch descent; in at least one Mad Men episode, there is a reference to them, which might be a deliberate joke on Alison Brie. I wonder if there's a family connection. SchnitteUK (talk) 06:58, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Full name[edit]

Formatting the lede as "Alison Brie (born Alison Brie Schermerhorn)" is the correct format. See WP:BIRTHNAME for more information on this. If she was using a pseudonym then the format "X, known as her professional name Y" would be correct, but the names are close enough that it should be the other way. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 00:00, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see where it says, "names are close enough." (That's a long section. You should be more specific.) What it does say is, "For people who are best known by a pseudonym, the legal name should usually appear first in the article, followed closely by the pseudonym. Follow this practice even if the article itself is titled with the pseudonym." I don't see any exceptions where this applies. Also, the full name should only be in the lead, not repeated in the following paragraph. --Musdan77 (talk) 00:22, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
For example, Marilyn Monroe and Vin Diesel have it that way. I'd argue that 'Alison Brie' isn't a pseudonym, given that it's really just two thirds of her given name. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 04:30, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But that's your opinion/preference, and not what the MOS says, like you said it does. So, don't say things like "no, this format is correct", when that's not really true. And it's not according to the source either. She said that it's a stage name (which is a pseudonym). And you didn't address my other point in my last sentence. --Musdan77 (talk) 17:26, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose I was extrapolating from what MOS says. Change it to what you want - I guess that would be "Alison Brie Schermerhorn, known by her stage name Alison Brie"? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 14:59, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

She has been on 20 episodes of GLOW. Season 2 is already out. Instead, it still says 10 episodes. 179.6.193.178 (talk) 04:42, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alison Brie Personal Life[edit]

Hey, I feel like it’s a bit unfair that people have been so consistently shooting down edits to Alison Brie’s personal life section. The additions directly quote Brie and people removing them are operating on speculation that she was joking. She called herself bisexual almost a year ago, has never gone back on it or suggested she was joking, she did interviews the same day talking about being sexually attracted to women, there have been many articles written about the video, she’s constantly posting about pride, and often does pride partnerships with companies. People come out in casual and humorous settings, and that doesn’t undermine their identity. I think it’s very fair to assume that she stands behind calling herself bi. Other actors have joked about their sexuality and have gotten backlash (see Misha Collins) and have publicly responded and gone back on it afterwards, which was not the case for Brie, so it seems she was not joking. I feel like it’s weird to have to argue and provide so much evidence just to directly quote a fairly viral video. Nerdwithjstoraccess (talk) 17:49, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is a WP:BLP, and gender/sexuality is among the most sensitive of BLP-related issues. We base our BLPs on WP:RS coverage. Sources that covered this say that she "seemingly" came out, and that's not good enough for our BLP standards. I don't see her having commented on it, or being asked about it, since, which would "seemingly" suggest it was a joke and was taken as such. There is no serious confirmation of this, and so we exclude it. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:57, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clarification. I do want to clarify, does the line about her decision to not have children fall under different rules? That directly references a video in the same manner and doesn’t provide any other sources. Nerdwithjstoraccess (talk) 19:04, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Her not wanting to have kids also needs to be verified by RS. I imagine that's easier to do than her sexuality. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:37, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
